Chia What?

Good morning blog world!  How are ya today? I'll admit, when I first started taking part in the blogging world, I kept hearing about chia seed this and chia seed that.  I had to do Google searches about what in the world these chia seeds were, and even then thought they sounded kinda weird.  I mean, they kind of make a gel?  Eating gel sounds gross to me!  But, after reading enough about them (and failing to win any chia seed contests!) I decided to start searching for them to try them for ... continue reading...

Steak + Tators

So, even though I don't advertise it on here all the time, I think it's probably fairly common knowledge that this girl loves her red meat (provided it's prepared well, of course).  Had you asked me a couple of years ago I would've said I hated it, but during my "Meat Class" (really, it was a class about meat) in college my professor stood at the front and described the flavor in a great steak.  Next time I tried it, I found out he was right!  There are so many great flavors in a good cut of red ... continue reading...

Feeling That Olympic Spirit!

Good morning!  How is everyone on this fine Thursday? Let's start off with last night's fabulous eats before we go any further...we had Amy over for dinner and made a turkey/artichoke/spinach/provolone panini thing and Chelsea's Roasted Tomato Soup!  Basically the sandwich was a massive loaf of Italian bread that I cut in half, then layered deli turkey and provolone on one half.  On the other half I first chopped up some canned artichoke hearts and spinach, then tossed it with a little Greek ... continue reading...

Foxy

It's almost 5!!!  Wahoo!  And guess what?  I saw a FOX on my walk today!?!  He was so cute, and I named him Skippy. :)  I'm weird, I know! I'm telling you, this day drug onnnnnnnnnn...and onnnnnnnnnnnnn...and onnnnnnnnnn.  I kept glancing at the clock and it would only be 5 min later than the last time.  Although I'm thankful that things are slowing down a bit, but if the days would inch by a tad faster I wouldn't mind :) Lunch today was this soup: And I had some big plans for these ... continue reading...

MOM! THE MEATLOAF! WE WANT IT NOW!

Good morning y'all!  Can anyone name the movie the post title is from?  I'll give you a MAJOR hint:  Will Ferrell. :) So, how are you guys doing?  I first want to thank everyone for the encouraging and HONEST comments on yesterday's post.  I'm feeling much better about things today, and I feel like I was kind of slapped into reality (in a good way) by the things some of y'all had to say.  I feel like if I eat well for one day that means I'll be 5 lbs thinner (or the equivalent of 5 lbs since I ... continue reading...

Backwards Before + After

Hey guys!  Sad story:  this afternoon when I was taking pictures of my lunch and puppies, I forgot to put the memory card in.  This means no pictures from that!  DOH!!!  But basically all I had was pasta from last night (about half of the leftovers, which was about 1.5 cups) and a ton of water.  YUM! I thought I'd take the time to share a little with you guys about where I'm at today.  This is really hard for me to share because I don't like to showcase my imperfections, but below are my ... continue reading...

I Heart My Skull Cup

Marnin' everyone!  How's it going?  I know I'm starting my Tuesday's a LOT more rested than yesterday! Dinner last night was baked herbed chicken and whole wheat linguine with leeks, hazelnuts, and radicchio (I found the recipe in Food Network Magazine and tweaked it a little...let it be known that this is not my recipe): For the chicken, I just sprinkled with an herb marinade mix I found at the grocery store, sprayed the top with cooking spray, and baked on 400 for 25 minutes.  Easy. The ... continue reading...

Geaux Saints!

Happy Monday everyone!  I really missed writing a little this weekend, but it was really nice to just relax with Nate's family and enjoy our short time together :) When I last left y'all, I had eaten at Potbelly and was talking about my new-found obsession appreciation for pickled peppers (my mouth MIGHT have started watering just typing the name out).  Once we were done with lunch and relaxing at Nate's dad's house, we headed to Allen (in the north Dallas area) which was where the surprise ... continue reading...

We're in…

DALLAS!!!! I know I know, not really that "out there" or exotic, but we came in to be at my brother-in-law's surprise birthday party and I didn't think it was good to publish that til he knew we were here :) I've been doing ok eating-wise, but parties are hard. I'll post pictures later today, but we are already starting today off with oatmeal so I feel a lot better already! Hope y'all are having a great Sunday, and I hope all my east coast readers are staying warm! Any good tips on how to ... continue reading...

We're There!

Hey guys!  Anyone remember in Dumb & Dumber when they get to Aspen and say, "We're there!!!"?  It's a little one, but it's probably one of my favorite lines :) Thanks so much for all of y'alls encouraging comments earlier :)  It's been a little bit of a better day nutritionally than yesterday.  Note that I said "little." We split this egg/sausage stromboli for breakfast.  I didn't have time to do oatmeal, and we didn't really have anything else at home.  SOOO at the airport we did this ... continue reading...

Junk Food Junkie

Good morning everyone :)  We're about to head out for our "mystery trip" in a few minutes, but I thought I'd give you a quick recap of yesterday's not.at.all.healthy eats! Last time we talked, I told y'all about the smoothie I made yesterday morning.  About half way through, I decided that I wasn't enjoying it nearly as much as one should enjoy food, so I threw the rest of it out.  To my delight, though, I found some pumpkin yogurt I brought the day before and hadn't eaten! This was a site for ... continue reading...

Oh Friday, Where Have You Been All Week?

Good morning everyone!  Hope y'all are having a fabulous Friday today :) So, today marks my first product review, unofficial as it might be!  Yesterday when I was visiting Leeann she gave me some samples of GreensFirst superfood powder to try out!  Three of these packets are equal to one serving, which is equal to the antioxidant power of 10 servings of fruits and veggies!   I blended 3 packets up with 1 cup water, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup frozen strawberries (they were whole, so maybe ... continue reading...
