Oh Friday, Where Have You Been All Week?

Good morning everyone!  Hope y’all are having a fabulous Friday today 🙂

So, today marks my first product review, unofficial as it might be!  Yesterday when I was visiting Leeann she gave me some samples of GreensFirst superfood powder to try out!  Three of these packets are equal to one serving, which is equal to the antioxidant power of 10 servings of fruits and veggies!   I blended 3 packets up with 1 cup water, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup frozen strawberries (they were whole, so maybe ~ 5-10 berries depending on the size), and 1/2 a banana:

I tried my hand at pouring + picture taking (I made sure to move all electronics out of the way first!)

And the finished product was about 2 cups of smoothie in a large, cheap, plactic cup!

So, my thoughts?  The idea of something this healthful makes me happy inside when I am concocting the recipe!  However, this really didn’t live up to my flavor expectations (as in I didn’t really want to taste the flavor!)  It has an almost spearmint-y flavor to it, which kind of clashed with the fruit flavor.  It made it taste almost like medicine, in a weird kind of way.  I still have several packets left, but I’m going to have to find a way to use them where I don’t taste the spearmint as much.

Even though that’s not a glowing review, I’m super thankful to Leeann for letting me take this home and try it!

Now, I only got one question yesterday, but that’s totally OK!  I just wanted to put it out there in case anyone had something specific to ask, but more than anything I wanted to make it known that I am always open to questions about anything from y’all!

I noticed you had beautiful pictures of your nachos from Rock Bottom (btw thanks ALOT, now I want nachos, argh)…do you take your professional camera w you everywhere you go!?

I try to take my camera with me everywhere I go, with the exception of things like skiing, which is when I use my point-and-shoot.  It can be fairly awkward for new people, but I usually just let them know that I have a food blog and that tends to nip the awkwardness in the bud!  Thankfully, all of my friends and family that read the blog are super supportive, and actually encourage me to snap away!

I’m so stoked it’s Friday, and can’t wait to rest up tonight for our travels in the morning.  I’ll be sure to leave some hints tomorrow and see if y’all can guess where I am… 😉

In light of Estela’s post, what’s your favorite Friday end-of-the-week cocktail?  If not, do you have anything fabulous planned for the SuperBowl? I know that a good margarita is my favorite Friday drink (at least today it might be!)

Powder packets always freak me out You never know what you’re going to get. Your smoothie did look damn good but not sure what to do with spearmint.

I just came across your blog and I love it! I look forward to following : )

I recieved some wheat grass for my birthday and just tried it this morning. I was all brave and just mixed it with some water and did a shot of it…..woah…..I will NEVER do that again. I am going to try the smoothie tomorrow and am hoping to be able to hide the taste : ) I love the idea of what the Superfoods do for my body so I am determined to keep at it!

Mojito is my drink of the moment – or some good ol vino : )

So excited for the superbowl! 😀 I’m taking the easy route by ordering pizza, but plan on making some chicken skewers, guacamole and a veggie platter too.

Ooh! My favorite ‘winter’ end of the week cocktail is definitely a ‘hot whiskey’. I know it sounds intense. When I was in Ireland, the family I stayed with introduced it to me! I’m not much of a hard alcohol kind of girl, but these are awesome:

1 shot Jameson (or cheaper version) Whiskey
    1 C Boiling Water
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 lemon wedge
1 T Sugar or Sweetner equivalent

Pour the Jameson and water into a glass. Put the entire cinnamon stick and sugar in and squeeze the lemon in then drop the whole wedge in. Let it sit for a minute. you can either remove the cinnamon stick, or keep it steeping in the glass.

This is a GREAT winter drink to cozy up by a fire to!

Happy Friday Heather! It always takes me several tries to get used to those superfood powders.

I’m gonna think of a question for you 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

A good margarita will do! My usual drink of choice is a new [dark] beer or wine.

Bummer about those packets not being that good. I can’t think of anything that would really go with a spearmint flavor… I don’t even think chocolate would be that good with it 🙁

I think just a glass of good wine is always good on Fridays 🙂

The smoothie looks delish!!! 🙂 🙂

I’m gonna look for those packets. The brand I typically buy is almost gone and I like the single serving idea! Thanks!!

A good Friday drink for me would either be a margarita or just a good ol’ Blue Moon (with an orange slice :-))

For the super bowl chad and I are heading to our buddy’s Darren parents house in Southlake and Darren’s mother always fixes up tons of food and they have a MASSIVE tv with great pictures and a crazy surround sound system!
