I Heart My Skull Cup

Marnin’ everyone!  How’s it going?  I know I’m starting my Tuesday’s a LOT more rested than yesterday!

Dinner last night was baked herbed chicken and whole wheat linguine with leeks, hazelnuts, and radicchio (I found the recipe in Food Network Magazine and tweaked it a little…let it be known that this is not my recipe):

For the chicken, I just sprinkled with an herb marinade mix I found at the grocery store, sprayed the top with cooking spray, and baked on 400 for 25 minutes.  Easy.

The pasta recipe can be found by clicking here, but I made a couple changes:

  • bumped the olive oil down to 2 Tbsp
  • used brie instead of fontina
  • bumped the sugar down to 1 tsp instead of 2

This pasta was absolutely amazing!  We have plenty of leftovers as well, so I’ll be enjoying that plus some soup this afternoon 🙂

Breakfast this morning was a breakfast cookie…ah, how I have missed thee!  I followed this recipe, but used half cranberries and half chocolate.  I also made one for a snack later today 🙂

And now…MY SKULL MUG!!!  I love this thing so much because every time I use it I’m reminded of the fantastic trip we took in May 2009 to Tortola BVI.  We got these awesome drinks at Duffy’s Love Shack, and got to keep the cups 🙂

Sometimes people in my office look at me like I’m crazy, but I know it’s probably just jealousy 😉  Seriously though, I love this mug 🙂

I’m feeling much better after eating well yesterday.  I didn’t get any exercise because it was snowing outside and when we got home from work I had to grocery shop and cook (oh yeah, and sleep).  I’m planning on walking today, and later tonight after our community group I’m going to do the 30-Day Shred!  So excited that I found a great deal on it…I’ll let y’all know what I think soon!

Do you have something that reminds you of a great time you’ve had?  What about food…is there a specific dish that just brings back amazing memories? I know for me, tamales and chili always reminds me of great Christmas Eve celebrations with my family, garlic cheese grits remind me of my Mimi, garlic salad dressing reminds me of my Grandma and Papa in California, and this mug reminds me of a fabulous vacation 🙂

Oatbran with blueberries and applesauce reminds me of college. But songs are a bigger nostalgia-inducer for me.

Oh so many foods that bring back amazing memories! Homemade pizza reminds me of visiting home, raisin toast reminds me of my Grandparents, Blue Moon beer instantly makes me think of my senior year at college…on and on. I associate a ton of foods with wonderful people and places it’s probably a bad thing.

Hmmmm…fried okra and lima beans remind me of my grandma. Tri-tip reminds me of my Dad, tamales remind me of Christmas, and ginger evidently reminds me of being ill ;-/
