Recovering from the Weekend

Hi there :)  This weekend was a blast, but today I feel like I need to recoup from it!  Do you ever have that happen?  I need a break from my break! Yesterday for lunch we went to BJ's Brewhouse for lunch with some new friends!  We had some chips and salsa to start off with: And at the recommendation of Ethan, we got the Buffalo Chicken Pizza: It was really good!  I've never had celery on a pizza before (and honestly am not a big fan of celery to begin with), but I enjoyed 2 slices.  YUM!  ... continue reading...

Ocho de Mayo & Happy Mother's Day

Good morning everyone! How's your weekend been so far?  Mine's been a blast!  We had our Ocho de Mayo party yesterday at a local park, and it was a blast! We had all sorts of great food...fruit: Chips with salsa and guacamole: And on the grill we warmed up Spanish rice, black beans, shredded chicken, and I topped my little "bowl" with cheese, salsa, guac, and some sour cream.  OK, you can drool now ;) There were also a ton of cookies, but alas I did not get any good pictures of them!  We ... continue reading...

Winner Winner Pizza Dinner

TGIF!!!! So cheesy, but so true :) First off, I wanted to talk about something a lot of you have asked me about:  my camera and equipment.  As some of you might know, my husband and I are photographers on the side.  We shoot weddings, bridals, engagements, families, kids, corporate photography, nature, and really anything that moves.  Or doesn't move.  We don't discriminate.  That being said, we shoot with a full line of Nikon equipment.  I typically (as in 99% of the time) use the Nikon D200 ... continue reading...

Marriage Refereeing

Happy Friday everyone! So glad the weekend is finally almost here :)  It's been kind of a hectic morning, so let's just jump right in, shall we? Last night was full of great food and fairly productive too!  I started off with a POM cocktail: I just kind of dumped everything over ice, but it's about 1 oz of rum, 1/2 cup of POM juice, 1/2 cup of club soda, and a squeeze of lime!  Super refreshing, and it reminded me of being in the Caribbean :) Dinner was salmon and squash quesadillas with ... continue reading...

Double Your Pleasure

Happy rainy Thursday everyone!  It might not be raining where you are, but let's just pretend, right Mama Pea? ;)  Today I had 2 pictures I couldn't decide between for the two things I ate, so I loaded it up for y'all double time! So this morning I made chocolate chip cookie bars for my office.  I always make some sort of treat once a week for the people I work with because I think it's fun to give stuff like that, bake, and the great news is that I don't have to eat it all! And, you know, in ... continue reading...

Impromptu Party

Everyone loves a party, right?  And apparently Nate and I like to have parties at our house and plan everything about 30 minutes before everyone's supposed to be there.  We just live for the thrill :)  Anyway, yesterday was a quasi-stressful day for me at work, so it sounded great to me to have friends over for margaritas and a makeshift Mexican fiesta! First we stopped off at PetSmart and got Keira her birthday gifts:  a pink collar with a new nametag, a pink butterfly toy, and we got Bunker a ... continue reading...

Picture of Health

Hi there :) My lunch today was the picture of health: French fries with ranch and...wait for it.... Chicken wings!!!  These were leftover from dinner last night and Steph offered them to us for free.  I mean, who are we to turn down free food?!  :) Also, today is Keira's 1 year birthday!!! My little baby girl is growing up so fast!  We're about to go get her a new collar or something special to celebrate :)  When we first adopted Keira from the Boulder Humane Society she was "diagnosed" ... continue reading...

About Dreaming

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO Y'ALL!!! How's it going so far?  I know I'm dreaming of margaritas and chips and salsa... :) Last night we had our community group, which was AMAZING as usual!  We had chicken wings, fries, salad, and baked beans: I also had 1.5 peanut butter cookies and a slice of angel food cake with strawberries, but it wouldn't have been appropriate to take photos of them when I ate them.  So I didn't.  But they were good! If you've been reading for a while, you know that I struggle ... continue reading...

JOY

Hello hello!  How's Tuesday afternoon for y'all?  Other than incredibly windy, mine's going OK :) Lunch today was a slice of leftover Mexican pizza: I also had another of Mama Pea's KIND bars, but didn't take a picture...OOPS!  Still just as yummy as this morning though :) Today I was thinking about my old blog, The Joyful Kitchen, and wondering if I felt like that was still an applicable title.  When I started that blog it was to create recipes, but not once did it cross my mind to use my ... continue reading...

Start of a Busy Week

Hey guys!  Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments about over-commiting and how you deal with that anxiety! I'm still working through it, but I think y'all have made some great suggestions and offered some really awesome encouragement to me :) Lunch today was a little delayed (we didn't have any lunch food and Nate wasn't able to pick anything up til later), so I staved off the hunger with a 100-calorie popcorn: And there might or might not have been some red vines thrown in the mix.  I ... continue reading...

Anxious

Good morning everyone!  It feels like I haven't posted in FOREVER!  It feels like this entire weekend has been one big blur... Yesterday for lunch we ended up going to Chipotle for lunch.  Nate got some chicken tacos: And I got a chicken burrito: I put his first because it was significantly healthier than mine and I thought maybe if I did that I could trick you guys :)  So let's all just pretend that I had the chicken tacos, K? We got home and crashed before going to our pastor's house for ... continue reading...
