I purposefully started yesterday's post on resolutions with the easiest thing in the world (for me anyway) - trying to get healthy. I think it's so easy to take information that is so matter-of-fact and apply it to see results. Eat smarter, make healthier choices, exercise, and (for me anyway) the weight comes off. Easy peasy. Well, easy compared to one of my top goals: becoming a better mother. We just opened the door to the hardest thing in the world! See, being a ... continue reading...
On Resolutions: Part 1
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I won't lie and say that I'm in the same 2016-hating boat the rest of the world seems to be in, but I am so looking forward to a new year too! Setting goals and planning for success is so refreshing, and although I'm not naive enough to think that everything will ever fall perfectly in place it just feels so good to get it all out there. I haven't taken the time in the past couple of years to really lay out life and goals and all the things that I want to look ... continue reading...

[via] And just like that we've arrived at Christmas weekend. Really, truly, how did time fly so fast this year? I blame having two crazy boys to chase around every day - they make the time go by so quickly! What are you guys doing this weekend? What are you doing for Christmas? We're going to be seeing ALL THE FAMILY over the next week or so and I am so excited but maybe a little nervous about the whole "getting the kids to sleep in a different place" thing. Here's hoping that we ... continue reading...
White Chocolate Raisin Oatmeal Cookies
White Chocolate Raisin Oatmeal Cookies add the sweetness of white chocolate and some spice to the traditional cookie for a winning combination! I know I've said it here before, but if ever there was a cookie monster in this world it is my husband. The man loves cookies - chocolate chip cookies to be specific (this and this are two of my favorite recipes) - but there's not a single one he'd say no to. After all, a life with cookies is better than a life without cookies! The ... continue reading...
Fueling Those Spontaneous Workouts with FLYJOY
As the holidays begin to simultaneously speed up and slow down I am finding that it’s becoming harder and harder to really fit in a good sweat session daily. Childcare is officially done for the year, which means that the times I did have to get in a good workout are pretty much done for the year too. Naps are inconsistent these days, with one kid getting up or the other not going down. Now I’m not trying to complain - the extra time with my boys is priceless, albeit chaotic, but I think we all ... continue reading...

This week was...crazy. Still kind of is? It all started Sunday evening when I felt just kind of ick, and then a full-blown sickness took over most of the day Monday. I never wish to be sick, but I won't lie that I was kind of hoping that I would have some sort of diagnosis (especially after the brain-scratching flu test and the gag-inducing strep test). All I got was the ol' "it's a viral thing" and a couple of prescriptions. Meanwhile, W complained of ear pain for two days only to ... continue reading...
Cheesy Rice and Potato Enchiladas with Shredded Chicken Ragu
If ever there was a comfort food that can soothe the soul, I would say that enchiladas is it - specifically these Cheesy Rice and Potato Enchiladas with Shredded Chicken Ragu. Warm, cozy, comforting - not to mention there are about a million ways to make them. They are probably one of the most highly customizable dishes out there, and although they have a reputation for being time-intensive, I can tell you there’s a way to make it feel so much easier. First, I must confess that the ... continue reading...
Dark Chocolate Truffles for One (or two if you like sharing)
Dark Chocolate Truffles for One (or two if you like sharing) scales down a classic chocolate truffle recipe so that you can enjoy the goodness without the guilt! Guys, I won't lie - seasonal allergies/cold/sinus stuff has made itself known in my body over the past day and it's not fun. I can honestly say that one of my biggest fears this year is when my boys would get sick. Parenting is hard in general, and it's just doubly hard when people don't feel well, you know? I didn't ... continue reading...

I just realized that we are actually just a few weeks away from the end of the year, which is NUTS. I honestly feel like it was just February two months ago? And clearly I'm wrong, but I am baffled at how quickly the time is going by these days. SLOW IT ON DOWN PLEASE. Yesterday I had a few hours of mommy time, so as soon as I got home I went to town getting rid of toys that we have WAAAAY too many of. We have this cubby thing in our living room with 6 bins that were packed to the ... continue reading...
Creamy Navy Beans with Christmas Ham
Creamy Navy Beans with Christmas HAM!!!! Oh gosh y'all, there really aren't words to describe how much I love ham. The sweet, the smokey, the juicy, the glaze options - I love it all! But can I be honest? I have never used a ham bone in my entire life! Is that crazy? Maybe. It was worth the wait though because these beans are creamy-smokey-herbacious-heavenly. After Thanksgiving one of my aunts posted a picture on Facebook of ham and navy beans, apparently a traditional ... continue reading...
Making Cooking with Kids Fun AND Safe with Potsafe
This post is sponsored by Potsafe in association with The Women Bloggers, but all opinions are my own. You guys may not remember this, but when my older son was a little tyke I posted all kinds of pictures of the two of us cooking and baking together, with his patient little self sitting nicely atop the counters and watching the stand mixer whirl. I worried that it might seem that my boy was in an unsafe situation, although I had a hand on him at all times. And when it came to opening and ... continue reading...

WHEW! What a week, am I right? It hasn't been particularly hard for me this week with the exception of my typical post-vacation panic mode, but my procrastination and the craziness of the holiday season is starting to catch up with me big time. How is it even December already? Where did 2016 go?! I'm not ready to start reading all the recaps of this year yet! This weekend it's going to be flipping cold and rainy here so any chance of going outside is dooooowwwwwn the drain. BUT!!! ... continue reading...
