Last week I received some INCREDIBLE products from iHerb, a fantastic online carrier of vitamins and herbal supplements (vegan, vegetarian, raw and even gluten free), cosmetics and personal care items that are organic and/or cruelty-free, eco-friendly products as well as over 1000 natural and specialty grocery items. Sounds pretty amazing, huh? I ended up getting to pick $50 worth of stuff from their site, and I have to say it felt pretty amazing! I got the following stuff: Chia ... continue reading...
Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Mushroom Gravy
WARNING: I'm about to become obsessed with my crock pot. I tell you guys this because I care about y'all and think that a crock pot investment needs to happen in every home across America. Heck, across the world! Life was so much easier back in the day...let's bring back the 70's way of cooking and bring back the easier American way of life. I'm not just talking about food change here, people. I'm talking life change, and with that - total world domination. I'm actually ... continue reading...
Amazed.
Y'all, I was just so excited about this I had to share. Everyone's post on Faces of Beauty has completely moved me, but I have to say - props for creativity to Alissa! She not only has an amazing foodie blog, but she posted a video to YouTube about Faces of Beauty and I just had to share on here as well. To all of you guys that have helped with this movement, even if you're just reading, thank you so much. It's something that I'm incredibly passionate about and have seen the evidence of it ... continue reading...
Dark Chocolate Macadamia Nut Butter
I'm turning into a nut butter snob. And a chocoholic. Skippy? No thanks, not unless you're paired with hand-made artisan bread and summer-ripened strawberry jam. Or, you know, whatever else it goes well with. Maranatha? I don't really like almond butter from a jar unless it's on baby carrots. But since we're on the subject, you have to try plain almond butter with baby carrots. Talk about world-rocking! No, nut butters these days, as far as I'm concerned, are better when homemade. And ... continue reading...
Confessions of a Life Blogger, Part II
I love filling out forms. No specific forms, just the kind where I have to tell someone all about me. Makes sense why I love blogging, no? I'm terrible at dancing. Despite that I'd like to be in a flashdance someday. Preferably to 90's music, please. Weekends should be spent at home, snuggling, eating, and watching movies. No more, no less. Even though I don't blog about my daily eats anymore, I still drink smoothies for breakfast like a champ. Every.single.day. Living ... continue reading...
Ridiculous
Last night I did something ridiculous...and I'm kicking myself for not doing it before. It all started with this recipe (AMAZING) and I just did my part to amp it up a little bit more. Here's a series of photos; enJOY! Kneading is so calming! Uh-oh... That's right! Yep, you guessed it...I took the Pioneer Woman's cinnamon roll recipe and rolled bacon all up in it. And I baked it off, added a sugary glaze, and devoured it. Ridiculous? Maybe. Glorious? ... continue reading...
Wanting to Smile Again
I do. I want to. But it doesn't really feel like I can. The second I found out my baby miscarried it was like all things fun and funny just went swirling down the drain. I'll admit, I've smiled since. But it hasn't been a deep, soul-induced smile. I miss the old me almost as much as I miss my sweet child... Thanks for listening, and with much love, Heather ... continue reading...
German Chocolate Brownies
I'm German. I never loved German chocolate cake. Until it was made in brownie form. Do you ever wonder why you decide, wholeheartedly decide, that you don't like something? I used to swear up and down that I hated onions; now I can't get enough of them and think food is bland without them. Same with real butter (???), bananas, watermelon, red bell peppers (still hate the green ones), and whole wheat bread. I highly doubt my 10-year-old self would recognize me now...for many reasons ... continue reading...
Cascade Ice
A couple weeks ago the amazing people at Cascade Ice sent me some samples of their naturally flavored sparkling waters - and y'all, I'm in love. For a while I was trying to kick my Diet Coke habit to the curb, but in the meantime was really missing carbonation. Don't ask me why...I'm afraid even I don't know the answer to that one! There are two other flavors (Strawberry Lemonade and Orange Mango) that they sent that sadly had been consumed prior to the photo shoot, both of which I loved. ... continue reading...
Again, Please: Mud Pie Mojo Brownies
Anything that starts out with this amount of butter has to be good! Confession: when I was in college, I worked at a combination of a snow cone place, a local burrito place (think Chipotle but better), Cold Stone Creamery, and the center for student athletes. Today we’re going to briefly discuss my 2 whole months at Cold Stone. That was one of those jobs where I needed some extra cash and wasn’t taking summer school classes, so my friends got me a job there. It was also one of those ... continue reading...
Glory Baby
By Watermark, a song about miscarriage and the hope that is God. Glory baby you slipped away as fast as we could say baby...baby... You were growing, what happened dear? You disappeared on us baby...baby... Heaven will hold you before we do Heaven will keep you safe until we're home with you... Until we're home with you... Miss you everyday Miss you in every way But we there's a day when we will hold you We will hold you You'll kiss our tears away When we're home to stay Can't wait ... continue reading...
Bacon Apple Farro
Bacon. It's glorious. I guess it had been a while since I'd truly made what Nate calls "real bacon" (translation: not turkey bacon) at home, but this weekend changed all of that. Sunday night we made dinner at home, the star of which was Jessica's Warm White Bean and Spinach Salad. I have to say, I fell in love with bacon once again when that dish hit my lips! The food, not the actual dish. Don't want y'all to think I'm weird or anything... Oh what? You already ... continue reading...
