First: isn't my new ukulele pretty? I'm going to rock that thing...promise to post videos when that happens :) So as much as I was hoping to feel better now that I'm in the second trimester...well, let's just say I hadn't seen anything yet. Monday was ROUGH, yesterday was hard, and we'll just see what today brings. BUT one of the funniest things about pregnancy for me has been the random things that have made me cry. Not the truly touching things I'd cry about anyway, but the weird stuff that ... continue reading...
The (second) Big Fat First Trimester Post
YAY! So we can finally talk pregnancy on here - are you guys excited? I sure hope so, because some of the posts I love reading the most are about what's going on in the everyday life of a blogger. Y'all, pregnancy is amazing (note I didn't say it FELT amazing) in the way that it brings me closer to the Lord and closer to the ones I love. I feel all the emotions these days, but I count that as such a blessing! The above photo is basically what I've looked like every day for the past ... continue reading...
Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Parfaits
As with everyone else on the planet, I'm super stoked that it's fall. I don't even care that we're still traipsing about in shorts and T-shirts...it's those cool nights and chilly mornings that make this girl's heart go pitter-patter. That and the warmth of the almighty pumpkin spice blend that I'll happily dump in everything from a latte to a batch of cookies and then some! This little recipe is one of my all-time favorite go-tos for dessert when entertaining. It's easy, it's always ... continue reading...

This story of a football player and a women's book club. Tears, smiles, all of it - I loved this story and the video! You never know whose life you can touch by just a few simple words. Anything Jess writes is pretty much amazing, but I loved this sweet + simple post from last week. Such an encouragement! Casey's heart is always an encouragement. Our stories matter - every. single. one. Monica is rocking the parenting posts lately! While most of them don't ... continue reading...
Fall Style: Silver Boots
A little over a month ago we went on our very first trip - EVER - to Nashville, Tennessee. I'll be honest and say that it was a REALLY cool city with a lot of fun things to do, but in the throws of morning (read: all day, nonstop) pregnancy sickness it was hard for me to get into the spirit of traveling somewhere new. Don't get me wrong - we had a blast and made some incredible, beautiful memories together. And we definitely want to go back...but maybe next time not when I'm ... continue reading...
Egg Biscuit Sandwiches with Cheesy Gravy
The longer I'm a mom the more and more I see just how important family is to me. It's not that I didn't know before; no, for a very long time I've known that family would be a huge factor in my life. But seeing just how much of an impact having a close family makes has been a huge encouragement for me. I read a quote on the Humans of New York instagram account yesterday that, long story short, said that family can be anyone. It can be friends who care for you and love ... continue reading...
Our Next Big Announcement

To celebrate all things pumpkin I've now purchased 2 massive local pumpkins, bought more cans of pureed pumpkin than the last two years combined, and made my girl Christina's latte about 5 times...in the past week. I'm a walking cliché and don't care who knows it! 5 Things I Did that Transformed My Child's Behavior. My sweet little dude is just that - so super sweet - but about as strong-willed as they come. I loved this post, especially #5, and will definitely be putting some of ... continue reading...
Apple Snack Cake
Y'all, this cake has created a MONSTER in our house. A cute, cuddly, I'll-do-anything-for-a-piece-of-apple-cake monster that is, which of course is the cutest and sweetest of all monsters. This cake is subtly sweet with a mild cinnamon flavor that goes great any time of day - as a snack (as the name suggests), for breakfast or for dessert. My favorite pieces are the corners because it gets all caramelized and delicious. As for the apple options, pick your favorite! I like my apples ... continue reading...
Open Your Bible
Y'all, I don't know if you read through the study of Hosea with She Reads Truth, but I did - honestly the first time in a long time I've been really intentional with spending time in the word - and it kicked my tail in just the best way possible. Life has been a little more than nuts lately, but as Martin Luther said, "I have so much to do I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” While I can't say I'm there yet (the part where I wake up 3 hours early to pray), I've tasted ... continue reading...

You're So Brave. My sweet friend Heather (what a great name, right...?!) writes about the brave choice to start working out of the home and leaving her sweet babies with a lovely nanny. This isn't a working mom vs. stay-at-home-mom piece; it's about making brave choices, whatever that means for your family. Love it. All the comments on every recipe blog. OK I've only ever had a few comments like these EVER on my blog - for which I am thankful - but y'all, there's so much truth here. ... continue reading...
35+ Summer Love Recipes
THE WEATHER IS CHANGING THE WEATHER IS CHANGING!!! You guys, I'm practically beside myself - the weather is COOLING OFF tomorrow (and for the foreseeable future) and I can hardly contain myself. That means that windows will be open, fresh air will be spilling in (ironic because we just - as in last night - got our A/C fixed after 3 days...) and I may even give in and do a pumpkin spice latte. Heck, I may even go buy some actual pumpkin! And candles! And dried corn stalks to ... continue reading...
