So juicing. Let's talk about it, shall we? I don't really know why, but I've always been a little scared and/or intimidated of the whole juicing phenomenon. It doesn't have anything to do with the machine, the cleaning, etc - but more along the lines of making a juice that tastes good. Another thing that I've been nervous about is the cost of juicing. Let's be honest here: produce can be expensive, even when you buy it in bulk and even when you get the clearance stuff. We try ... continue reading...
Turkey Pot Pie and Almond Butter
Another round of delicious ChefMom recipes! These guys are to go-to dishes in our house for any season of life. Enjoy! Turkey pot pie with cornbread topping is seriously good. BONUS: it's a great meal to take to new parents, or anyone that you're bringing food to. It warms up well and yields some fabulous leftovers! WARNING: don't make this almond butter if you tend to eat nut butter straight out of the jar. Unless you want to eat a jar in one sitting...not that I know anyone who's ... continue reading...
What I Love About…The Fitnessista
If you've been following along at all for a while, you know that I kind of love this whole blogging gig that I've got going on. I love cooking, I love eating, I love working out, and I love writing about it all. I am so blessed to get to share my life with you guys! Another BIGBIGBIG thing that I love about blogging though? THE COMMUNITY. Getting to read about the lives and loves of women across the world, and hearing from incredible women (and some men) across the world. There ... continue reading...
11 Months Old!!!
Guys, my baby is 11 months old and I literally cannot even remember how he got to be so big! I was at a mom's bible study the other day and there were SO MANY BABIES! The funny thing is that I just couldn't remember Wes being that small or helpless. It was only a few short months ago that he couldn't even lift his head off the ground, and now my little dude is walking. Yep, you read that right - walking is the only cool thing these days. Well, that and scaling the coffee table. ... continue reading...
A Mom’s Heart
One thing about having a little boy that I didn't expect was all of the grunting and "man" noises that he makes. We haven't heard any words yet, although I say "mama" a minimum of a billion times a day to try and sway his first words my direction. I'm planning on doing a full 11-month (WHAT?!) write up tomorrow for his 11-month birthday, and believe me there's been a LOT of stuff happening in the past month! I've always known that there are genetic predispositions I have for certain heart ... continue reading...
This One’s For You
To the one who's afraid of messing up, letting others down, letting yourself down or otherwise "messing up" - You are blessed. To the one who deals with a hurtful past, the one you don't ever want to share, the one you're afraid will make you unlovable - You are loved. To the one who's felt the pain of the loss of a baby too soon, who's felt the pain of losing someone she loves, who hides in her loneliness, in her sadness - You are not alone. To the one who waits, soul weary and heart heavy, ... continue reading...

Blog Love: Roasted Eggplant Dip
It's been a while since I've done a full-fledged Blog Love post you guys! And for that I am so sorry...I pin all of these amazing recipes, and as I said I've been eating my way through Pinterest, so really there's no excuse. IF I had a valid one it's just that I've been making all of the amazing recipes and then just enjoying them for myself. That's fine and all, but as I say on the Blog Love page I love this community and want to share as much of its awesomeness as I can! So here's to ... continue reading...
Parsnips Au Gratin, Caribbean Jerk Meatloaf and Breakfast Biscuit Pie
Oh my word, talk about a comfort foods. You guys, if it's cold where you're at, these recipes are for you. But you know what? If it's warm where you're at? You should totally make them too! The parsnips au gratin are, admittedly, an acquired taste - if you KNOW you don't like parsnips then you probably won't love these. They taste like a buttery-sweet parsnips, and I could probably eat the whole pan in one sitting if left to myself. Highly recommended! The Caribbean jerk ... continue reading...
Spicy Thai Basil Chicken
Y'all, I am literally eating my way through Pinterest. Those of you who use Pinterest know what I mean when I say that it's an addiction. It's something that should be taken seriously, which is why I have a veeeeeeeeery limited window I allow myself to browse the ol' boards. I like to call it "middle of the night after rocking Wes back to sleep and I can't fall back asleep." You know, something like that. ANYWAY. I originally saw this recipe in my Cooking Light magazine, but made ... continue reading...
5 Things I’ve Learned…From Planting a Church
This post is something that is only a tiny part of what I could talk about in regards to the 4 years we spent in the Denver area helping to plant a church. When it went under life changed drastically: we lost friendships, we lost something we had worked so hard for, we lost the thing that our entire existence in Denver was centered around. But with all of that loss I gained so much: a stronger relationship with my husband, the ability to work from home blogging and doing freelance work, and ... continue reading...
Apple Pecan Breakfast Cookies
Today. Today I'm going to do something I never thought I would ever do. I never had the interest, never had the drive to do it. Never wanted to spend the money on it. Not to mention the sheer fear of it all. Know what I'm talking about? JUICING. That's right, I have a juicer now. And y'all are probably exhaling from that crazy build up and wondering why you're still reading. BUT WAIT!!! I can't really speak to it yet - I just wanted to keep you guys updated on life. I'm thinking of ... continue reading...
