My Heart Knows Yours

The other day I was watching Wes play in his diaper (his favorite outfit to play in!) when I caught site of his bellybutton.   Now I know to some that may sound random, and just to clarify I've seen his bellybutton countless times per day for the past {almost} eleven months.  It's not a new site in this household.  But that day it just struck me - that little bellybutton is a visible (not to mention adorable) sign of the life that once lived in me.  That little wrinkled dip in my ... continue reading...

Sesame Pistachio Quinoa Salad

Sesame Pistachio Quinoa Salad from HeathersDish.com

I have to admit, the photo below just slays my heart. How on earth did we get so blessed to have such a crazy adorable baby?  I know the video from Friday was pretty awesome, but if y'all had heard the symphony of giggles and sweet baby coos - well, I'm pretty sure your hearts would be big ol' puddles on the floor like mine. We are now entering a picky eater phase that is NOT my favorite thing in the world.  There are so many times that I've watched as beautiful food gets thrown on the ... continue reading...

Workout clothes.  Who loves 'em? I know that the majority of my day is spent in either running shorts and a T-shirt, or (on colder days) running tights and a sweatshirt.  I know that may be frowned upon, but let's get real: I am a mom to a boy who's always on the move and I'm constantly on the ground with him OR making a mess in the kitchen during naps.  It's what I would consider a pro of the job, but having stuff that lasts is HUGE.   Oh, and you want your actual workout clothes ... continue reading...

Reese’s Peanut Butter Icebox Cake

Reese's Peanut Butter Icebox Cake

Y'all.  There are no words. When I set out to make this cake for a ChefMom piece I had no idea what was about to happen.  I didn't realize how my life was going to change, how the very world of baking as I knew it was about to fly out the window.   YOU DON'T HAVE TO BAKE THIS CAKE.  And it turns out like a heavenly cloud of peanut butter and luscious chocolate by simply sitting in the refrigerator overnight.   So basically you're "baking" in a fridge.  Sort of.  ... continue reading...

Pistachio-Rolled Chocolate-Dipped Apples

Pistachio Covered Chocolate Dipped Apples

This past week AT&T (our internet provider) had a "network outage" which means that I have officially been without internet and TV in my home for going on 3 days. 3 DAYS! Although this has been kind of a hassle since my side job is all done online, I have to admit once again that going without has been kind of a nice eye-opening experience for me. For the past 3 days I've watched The Family Stone and The Holiday on repeat - partly to just have some background noise in the house, and ... continue reading...

30 for 30

Today is my amazing hunk-of-a-man husband’s 30th birthday! Words really can never truly express how he makes my heart happy, or how deeply blessed I am because of his presence in my life. I say it all the time, but I married my very best friend – and for that I am so thankful! To celebrate his 30th birthday here are 30 things that I love about my man. He loves God more than he loves me. He adores our son. He wrestles and cuddles both of our dogs. Sometimes simultaneously. He loves that ... continue reading...

Story

Our Sweet Story

It's been a while since I've talked about miscarriage here, probably because I try very hard to live in the moment with the sweet baby that we are so blessed to have here with us.   If I can be a little honest though having Weston here almost makes it harder to stomach the miscarriage that we had almost two years ago.  It makes it harder because he is so wonderful, so healthy, so happy, so beautifully and wonderfully made.  So smart and funny and strong.  So perfect in every little ... continue reading...

Cinnamon Milk Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Cinnamon Milk Chocolate Frozen Yogurt from HeathersDish.com

I'm happy to report that Operation Get Healthy has been going really well for us.  Nate and I have both been successfully decreasing our portions to reasonable amounts - turns out that a reasonable amount of pizza doesn't mean one half per person.  Who knew?! I've been working out like a crazy person and loving every minute of it (for the record I'm still loving GPP --> the burpees are the worst but so effective).  I feel strong and lean and working so hard definitely makes it harder to ... continue reading...

5 Things I’ve Learned…From Being a Woman

Proverbs 31:25

What could be more all-encompassing than the fact that I'm a woman?  I mean, it's the underlying reason behind being a wife, mother, daughter and sister, and yet just being the gender I am has taught me so much.  I can't really put it all into words, but here's hoping that I can get some of it out there! BEAUTY.  If I had a dollar for all the times I worried about being beautiful enough, beautiful at all, or just trying to make myself beautiful - well, I'd be one wealthy woman. The thing ... continue reading...
