If you’ve been following along at all for a while, you know that I kind of love this whole blogging gig that I’ve got going on. I love cooking, I love eating, I love working out, and I love writing about it all. I am so blessed to get to share my life with you guys!
Another BIGBIGBIG thing that I love about blogging though? THE COMMUNITY. Getting to read about the lives and loves of women across the world, and hearing from incredible women (and some men) across the world. There is a lot of evil that comes from the internet, but I choose to see the massive amounts of GOOD that emerge from it.
That’s why I want to share a new little series called “What I Love About…” The plan is to share one blog that I love and tell you WHY I love them every week. You should know that most of the time these will probably be bloggers I’ve never even shared an email conversation with; I just love what they have to say! It’ll probably range the gamut from big foodie blogs to smaller lifestyle blogs, and everything in between. But the biggest thing is I want to share the love. These bloggers work really hard to put out great content, and I want to be someone who lets them know! And if it ends up introducing you to your new favorite blog?
Even better. 🙂 I hope you guys enjoy!
This week I just feel called to tell you guys about Fitnessista. I’ve been reading Gina’s blog since 2009, right when I first jumped into this fun online community. She cracked me up with her writing, and I loved reading about her adventures in Valdosta, Georgia – the Indian food place, the Zumba marathons, how she would set up a hot yoga area in their guest room, etc. Even though I’m not a raw foodist, I really enjoyed seeing all of the raw food she ate (she also has raw food culinary training!) and trying out a few of them!
Her husband is in the military, so their life includes a lot of moving and deployment. When The Pilot (her hubby) is gone I can’t help but just want to reach through the screen and give Gina a hug. Seeing the huge sacrifice both she and her husband make for this country is so moving, and I confess there are a lot of times that I’ve read her posts and cried. There have been times I’ve prayed intensely for them. And it makes me so grateful that I have my amazing husband here with me – something I hope I never take for granted.
As much as I’ve loved reading Fitnessista over time, though, I have to tell you that I look forward to it even more now that Gina has had her daughter and I’ve had Wes. They’re about 2 months apart, so her posts always give some helpful little tidbits for me to look forward to with my guy. Plus she has some pretty awesome kid food recipes that I make all the time for Weston! My favorite thing about Gina’s blog, though, is just her candidness and willingness to share her beautiful life with the world. Life isn’t always easy, and she shares those parts as well, but she has an inspiring outlook on it all. So Gina, if you read this, you should know that you are loved and prayed for constantly, and I am so thankful for your words, your wisdom, your food, your workouts and YOU 🙂
