So friends - did you have a great Thanksgiving?! I know ours was quite the whirlwind - a lot of good and fun times interspersed with some hard stuff. Turns out that, among other things, having two kids with bad ear infections isn't the most fun thing in the world. But having grandparents and aunts and uncles that love those kiddos big despite the whining/crying/sleeplessness/projectile vomit IS. So I'd call it a win and I'm even more thankful for the amazing family we've been blessed ... continue reading...
Interruption
Well friends, this post should show you that this blog and my social media and the stuff I share? It's all real life, and in real time. We got back from Texas around 2am on Sunday morning because we were trying to beat horrible traffic and rainy weather with two sick kiddos in tow. We slept about 2 hours total, me and Nate, and then about another 2 last night. Turns out one of the sick babies is probably sicker than we thought, so off to the doctor we go this morning to see what we ... continue reading...
Happy Thanksgiving!

Carrot Apple Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting
We have officially entered dessert season that delicious time of year when sweets reign supreme and innovative treats are everywhere! These are days filled with chocolate, nuts, pumpkin everything and sweet potatoes. Every one of these is without a doubt both decadent and delicious, but one can never go wrong with a simple recipe that has been around for ages. This carrot apple cake is dense and moist, combining the texture and flavor from fresh carrots and sweet apples. When topped with ... continue reading...

[photo by Faith Dwight] I'm so beyond excited for Thanksgiving this next week, but y'all? I would love to be at a beach - anytime, really - like the one above. What a gorgeous shot, right? I'm not getting paid in any way to share this, but that's a beautiful stock photo that I got as part of my Influence Network membership. Pretty amazing! This week was good, but flew by so fast. We're going to do a little traveling soon and I'm already trying to plan out every detail of ... continue reading...
The Secret of Your Naturally Skinny Friends + Giveaway!
this giveaway is now closed & the winners have been notified. Thank you all so much for your amazing comments! Can I be honest? I feel really vulnerable about writing this post, and just so very excited at the same time. The vulnerability comes from admitting that something I thought was long gone was actually just very well disguised as something else. The excitement though? Is from the realization that it's never too late for healing. If you've read this blog from the ... continue reading...
Thoughts from a Hike
After 3 years of living in Arkansas we finally did it - we hiked up Pinnacle Mountain! It's crazy how much I missed hiking. We are able to get outside a lot here and try to take full advantage of it, but taking the time to hits the trails has fallen by the wayside. After finally making it happen this weekend, though, you can bet we'll be doing it more often! Nate and W walked the whole thing, and I strapped A on in the Ergo, where he promptly passed out (poor teething little bug!) ... continue reading...

We made it guys! Besides being the gateway to the weekend Fridays are my favorite day of the week. We have nothing pressing to do, all of the week's needs have been met, and we get to just sit back and enjoy the day. I'm thinking we'll be spending as much time as possible outside - after all, I got hats for both boys and we all have jackets so there's really no excuse. Bonus: A is now able to ride in a normal stroller, so I'm kind of stoked to get out and take advantage of his newfound ... continue reading...
The Best Bulletproof Coffee
Ever since I read this post on bulletproof coffee I've been super intrigued. It's one of those things I had everything needed to make it, but something about butter in coffee just felt strange. But y'all? I BIT THE BULLET. And it was goooooooood! The original recipe is certainly good, but I'll be honest: the protein powder made it chalky and I wasn't a fan. So after nixing the protein powder and playing around with the other ingredients I found a really delicious blend ... continue reading...
From the Archives: Slow Cooker Creamy Tortellini Soup
So yeah...as referenced in my Monday post I'm totally behind this week (and every day of every week). Shocker? I think not. But the reality is that I hate leaving you guys hanging without a good food post a couple times a week, so today I'm bringing out one from the ol' archives. I am always looking for a good slow cooker recipe that doesn't taste like a slower cooker - does that make sense? Does anyone else ever feel like all slower cooker recipes start to taste the same after a ... continue reading...
A Pep Talk for the Work-At-Home Mom
A couple weeks ago I posted a little something on Instagram that seemed to strike a chord with other work-at-home moms like myself. In actuality it stuck a chord, and maybe even a nerve, with myself. See, I have a lot of issues, the largest of which is my constant desire to compare myself to others. This comparison trap has led to so many other things - disordered eating, anger, hopelessness, selfishness, overspending - but worst of all it has brought me many times to a place of ... continue reading...

YOU GUYSSSSSSS...it's finally Friday! This week has been so slow and so fast all at once; anyone else? I'm thinking we'll be adjusting to the time change for the next 5 months...I miss the sunshine! I'm so excited for the weekend because we're going to be cramming a lot of fun into the next two days. Football, festivals, friends, and soaking in the cooler weather and sunshine (while it's out). #thisishowweweekend What are y'all up to? I hope it's wonderful and filled ... continue reading...
