Real life: the start of this week was hard. As much of a vacation from the everyday grind that summer can be, ours has already been jam-packed with lots of stuff. Good stuff, but a lot of it. Wednesday I remember looking at my boys and seeing how exhausted they looked, and decided that the next day (yesterday) we were going to stay home and rest. It was much-needed and brought such refreshment to our family. This is a weird season for us right now, this transition between preschool ... continue reading...
Exactly How I Brine and Grill My Chicken Breasts in Bulk
In January my husband, who used to laugh and joke whenever I told him about how to eat healthier and workout more, decided to do just that. And, in typical man fashion, he lost a ton of weight and got significantly healthier in a fraction of the time it's taken me to manage losing the last 10 pounds of baby weight. UGH. MEN. That being said, it has really been helpful for me to have him on "my side" in this journey to better health, so much so that it's reignited a ... continue reading...
Hello Gorgeous!
Just popping in to say a few things: You're beautiful because you are YOU. I don't care if you're overweight, underweight, just right, too tall, too short, frizzy hair, thin hair, bald, no matter the color of your skin/hair/eyes, regardless of the clothes you wear and certainly not because of the numbers inside of them - you are beautiful because you are you. The world needs you. There isn't a single thing in this world that can define your worth aside from the love of God. ... continue reading...
Tomato and Brown Rice Bisque
I have yet to meet a person who isn’t a fan of the traditional grilled cheese and tomato soup comfort meal. For a while I may have been the only one who wasn’t a big fan of tomato soup. The canned version really isn’t my cup of tea; the flavor typically a little too sweet for my liking. However, once I came around to tomatoes in general I couldn’t help but be drawn to the homemade versions of tomato soup I then came in contact with. This hearty tomato bisque is sweetened only by using really ... continue reading...

Hypothetical question: how exactly does one get an ornery two year old out of the water, even when they're shivering and their lips are turning blue? Asking for a friend here, obviously ;) Swimming season is upon us and I am loving our time at the pool this year. Two years ago we were hitting up the pool and I was rocking A in his car seat while trying to simultaneously keep an eye on W. Last year A threw a massive fit in the water almost every trip to the pool until the last week ... continue reading...

Grilled Salmon with Chimichurri Sauce
Summer is here, and for me and my house that means a lot of grilling, a LOT of summer vegetables, and doing everything we can to keep our house cooler. However, I’ve always shied away from grilling fish, mainly because in all of its flaky, perfect glory it notoriously falls apart on the grill. There’s also, for many, an increased chance of drying out a great piece of fish which is a big no-no. What if I told you that you could solve all of the grilled fish problems using perfectly ripe summer ... continue reading...
Rainbow Fruit and Honey Toast
Another recipe that's not really a recipe per se, but just a fantastic combination of good ingredients. Isn't that what a recipe is, though, at the heart of it all right? In case you guys haven't seen it, I have an Instagram account detailing all of my eats on a daily basis. It's been great because it has challenged me to eat better and to eat more creatively with the food we have on hand! This toast is one of those byproducts, and it just turned out so pretty I couldn't help but ... continue reading...

HAPPY FRIDAY GUYS!!! Admittedly I completely forgot to make this post until this morning - YIKES. Fun fact about blogging is that most people get all of the things (links, recipes, photos) done waaaaay far ahead of time and then write the post the night before (what I usually do) or early the morning of the publish date. Yours truly was working hard hard hard yesterday and forgot to...so...yeah. BUT! Thank goodness for the "save" feature on Facebook and for Pinterest! So this ... continue reading...
Healthy on a Budget: How We’re Making It Work (Part 1)
I'm always hesitant to start a series because when it comes to remembering the future installments? Yours truly isn't the best at that. I won't make excuses, but life happens and work gets busy and I forget - oops! Speaking of, before I forget, if you're in the mood to watch my everyday eats check out my other Instagram account @heathereatshealthy. HOWEVER this is something that is a continual learning experience and constantly changing in our home. We reassess our ... continue reading...
Garden 2 Grow: Our Amazing Sponsors
Last week I was truly honored to be included in what I can only describe as an all-star lineup at Garden2Grow 2017, hosted by P. Allen Smith at Moss Mountain Farm. Gardening experts and bloggers from all around the country gathered just minutes from my house for a two-day meeting to learn, discuss, and inspire one another and our audiences to improve our world. As is the case with my insecure introvertedness I was extremely nervous to meet everyone. What could I say that would ... continue reading...

You guysssssss. This week has been wonderful, so this tiny moment of complaining? You'll just have to forgive me. But I am so tired! It all started Monday when I was trying to prepare myself and our home for the blogging event at Moss Mountain Farm that I was attending Tuesday and Wednesday. Two 10+ hour days (albeit with amazing people and I left super inspired) and this introvert crashed hard. Yesterday was A's last day of school, which means summer is fully upon us as we speak. ... continue reading...
