Today me: And this guy: Are going to ride up this here lift: And ski back down! Woohoo for the first day of skiing! The funny thing is that during my first year of skiing I never thought I'd be excited about it. And that year was only 2 years ago. It probably has something to do with the fact that my first run ever was a pretty difficult blue and I almost ran into a tree and died about 3 times. Oh, and had to remove my skis and hike the last half in my ski boots. To be ... continue reading...

The Me I Want to Be
Good morning! Guess what...? We made it to Friday! This morning I want to expound a little bit on my post from yesterday. I am so thankful to have found freedom from eating issues and, through Faces of Beauty, seeing myself as the beautiful woman that I am. I don't need to change to be beautiful, but now that I can move on from a painful past with food I know that I need to change to be healthy. And what better to jump-start a new life in loving my body well than participating in the ... continue reading...
A Long Road
It's been a long time since I have addressed my struggles with eating, weight, and everything related to those two subjects on the blog. There's a reason for that. You see, I finally found freedom from disordered eating in that I finally stopped caring about it. I stopped letting it run my thoughts. And with that I stopped addressing it because it has no place in my life anymore. I was finally able to start to LIVE, eat what I want when I want, cook anything and everything. It felt good to ... continue reading...
In a Jar
Jars. They're not just for canning anymore. By the way, does anyone else think it's weird that you can things in jars? Why don't we can things in cans? Just a thought... Anyway, I love jars. I love them for drinking, eating out of, putting things in to decorate, storage, and just all around doing stuff with them. So how did it not ever cross my mind to bake in them? After seeing this post that totally changed, and my life will be forever altered. I present to you layered brownie in a ... continue reading...
Jon & Jenn
Remember that one time when we went to Dallas for a wedding? And I showed you my version of Dallas through my iPhone? Well the reason we were going was to see this beautiful couple get married:Jon has been one of Nate's best friends since they were young...like really young. Like 2nd grade young. And Jenn is the beautiful woman that married him (duh...). It was a great time to visit family and friends...especially old friends like these hoodlums guys: These are Nate's best friends from ... continue reading...
Harvest Rice Pudding
Let's see a show of hands here: who was totally weirded out by rice pudding or bread pudding growing up? Come on now, be honest! All I know is that my first memory of either was that they were completely weird. I didn't like them. I whined, I cried, and I denounced their creamy glory. I'm not proud, but I feel it's important to be genuine on here. So there you go: I wasn't always the perfect foodie! These days I crave bread pudding like you wouldn't believe, and just ... continue reading...
Breaking Stuff
I'm so glad you all like the Nutella Stuffed French Toast yesterday. I kind of want to eat it for the rest of my life. Forever and ever - AMEN. What we have here, however, is the untold story. The story of destruction, tears, and broken glass. It was innocent enough: I was reaching into the sugar jar to get some sugar for the custard part of the dish. As I set the lid down I didn't line it up correctly with the base and it just SHATTERED.EVERYWHERE. First came the curse word(s). ... continue reading...
Ginger Cake with Mandarin Cream Cheese Frosting
Confession: I feel a little bit guilty about all the Nutella posts lately. Really, I do. But to be honest that's just what I've had on the brain since I bought a 2-pack of massive Nutella jars at CostCo for my own enjoyment Nate. HOWEVER, today we're going to let the Nutella rest in it's jar for a bit and talk about one of my favorite holiday desserts: ginger cake. No, not gingerbread (although that is fabulous too), but ginger in cake form. With cream cheese frosting. I don't know about ... continue reading...
Nutella Stuffed French Toast
Absolutely beautiful Lauren is on Faces of Beauty today! Alright, no more of this Little Miss Innocent act. I know exactly what I'm doing here. I know that this could cause a Nutella crisis the likes of which puts the pumpkin shortage to shame. I know this, and I don't care. I have to tell the world... I have to shout it from the rooftops!!! NUTELLA STUFFED FRENCH TOAST WILL RULE THE WORLD!!! I don't pretend to think that I'm the one who came up with this idea, ... continue reading...
Truffles
Let's talk chocolate, shall we? I love the stuff, but prefer dark chocolate (read: 70% cacao or more) over milk chocolate or white chocolate. I'm not saying I'd discriminate, but if I'm going to eat chocolate I want to eat the good stuff. Also, I really only crave chocolate every now and then, but if it's that time...I pity the fool who stands in my way. Let that be a lesson to us all... I remember a few years ago I was making truffles with my friend Stefanie and realized just how time ... continue reading...
Different Weekend
Good morning everyone :) I don't know about y'all but today is a very very good day...why? Well, if you follow me on Twitter you might have seen me post this last night: I have no idea what happened but about halfway through work yesterday I had stomach issues that I just couldn't handle anymore and had to go home. I slept the rest of the afternoon, drove to pick Nate up, watched 30 minutes of a movie, slept some more, woke up and went to bed. I feel MUCH better today! So today ... continue reading...
