Hubby-Needs-Some-Sugar Cookies

No no, I'm talking about THAT kind of sugar ;) I'm talking about the kind Nate craves after eating something savory, like the turkey & spinach meatballs with penne and marinara we had last night: To be honest it was a long day at work and I was extremely tired, not to mention sad that I didn't actually go through with making homemade pasta like I'd announced on Twitter.  But when I see this man's sweet face asking for cookies, I just can't help myself (please ignore my shiny face...it was ... continue reading...

Banana Walnut Bread

This is slap yo' mama good.  That's right, I said it! Buttery, sugary, crunchy, and not even close to good for you.  What else could you want in a banana bread? This will be the best thing I can get you for a step-by-step on this fabulous recipe, so bear with me, ok? Banana Walnut Bread (based on the Best Banana Bread recipe by America's Test Kitchen) 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup of sugar + 1/4 extra for the topping 3/4 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 4 very VERY ripe bananas 6 Tbsp ... continue reading...

Thankful

It's all about the simple things really! I'm thankful for Panera Bread and its inclusion of really sharp white Vermont Cheddar on my breakfast sandwich from Friday. I'm thankful for happy hour menus where you can order things like mushrooms stuffed with Italian sausage and polenta with gorgonzola and pesto cream for a measly $3. I'm thankful for baby showers for beautiful friends who include foods like fresh sandwiches, veggies, pesto pasta salad, Israeli couscous, and chocolate cake.  ... continue reading...

Don’t forget to enter the Chocolate Indulgence Giveaway from Stonyfield!  Click here for details! If you've been following me on Twitter, you might have read that I spent some time the past couple of days rocking my bathroom's world...and no, Nate, I don't mean I was pooping :)  When we bought our house we were (and still are) so thankful that the previous owners were EXTREMELY clean and organized.  They even steam-cleaned the carpet, filled in all of the holes in the wall, and repainted!  The ... continue reading...

Who Has Two Thumbs…

...and loves to win FREE stuff?!?! THIS girl! About 2 weeks ago I was contacted by Stonyfield to try out their incredible pure-pleasure-on-the-bottom Caramel and Chocolate Oikos Organic Greek yogurts.  And you know what?  They didn't have to ask me twice! I had already tried the Caramel yogurt (heaven in a cup), but had been wanting to try the chocolate for some time.  Yesterday was that day. Y'all, this is the best thing that's happened to yogurt ever.  Not even since sliced bread, since ... continue reading...

How to Make and Keep Friends

It's simple:  you make them GUACAMOLE! If there's anything I've learned in my (almost) 27 years on this Earth, it's that the only person in the world who doesn't love guacamole is my friend Stephanie.  And I just learned that last night :) To make truly fresh, delicious guac you need the following ingredients: 7-8 large, ripe avocados, pits removed 2 medium Roma tomatoes, seeded and chopped 1 jalapeno, seeds and membranes removed, minced 1/2 a bunch of fresh cilantro, chopped finely 1/2 a ... continue reading...

300

Guess what?  Today is my 300th post on Heather's Dish! I feel so blessed to be able to have a blog to write on, and so thankful for those of you that read my day-to-day words.  Thank you for being awesome!!! Yesterday's breakfast featured something I've been wanting to try but had never been able to find in my area:  Pineapple Chobani! I don't know why this was so impossible to find, but the other night while I was wandering around Target I just happened by the cheese/yogurt section of the ... continue reading...
