Maple Candied Coconut

Maple Candied Coconut @heathersdish

Y'all, this is not an ad, but I have been obsessed with Fage Total Greek Yogurt lately - like the full-fat, ultra creamy, cheesecake-y thick stuff. I've always enjoyed the 2%, but the full-fat is the way to go.   Every morning I've been filling a bowl up with frozen wild blueberries and letting them thaw while I read my Bible, fill out my schedule for the day, and do any other work that I need to get done. When the berries have thawed about halfway, I stir in a half cup of Fage Total ... continue reading...

Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread - a legit yummy way to sneak some veggies into your (or your kids!) diet! Just call it chocolate cake and let the gobbling begin...

I'm a desperate parent. I'm desperate to make sure I'm doing the best that I can for my kids on a daily basis, as often as possible, so that they can grow up to be happy and healthy young men. Honestly? It can be borderline helicoptor-parenting if I don't watch myself, although at 3 years old and 6 months old it can be a fuzzy line. One thing that goes without questioning though? Is that these boys need their veggies.   And I'll be darned if they aren't both turning into the pickiest ... continue reading...

6 Months Old!

Again I pose the question, how are we even HERE?! My friends, this baby has been rolling around outside of my belly for half a year now. HALF A YEAR. What? When? How?   I can't even.   However. When I say he's rolling around, I mean it. The kid never holds still, which means he's taking after his older brother who is currently screeching the ABC's at the top of his lungs from his bed as I type this. It's a miracle that anyone ever sleeps around here. Or stays asleep when ... continue reading...

[image by Oak & Oats] Well guys, we are officially 10 days away from my birthday. In 10 days I'll be firmly planted in my 30's, which is both exciting and terrifying. The past two birthdays haven't really been that big of a deal, but something about being 32 is kind of freaking me out a bit. Like the typical party animal that I am, I'm sure I'll have a glass of wine and fall asleep at a reasonable hour after eating too much bread and vowing to give up carbs forever and ... continue reading...

16+ Life-Changing Podcasts

16 amazing podcasts that will change your life in business, family, marriage, faith, motivation and more! @heathersdish #podcast

About a year and a half ago I listened to my very first podcast ever. I was on a long walk around my parents' new neighborhood during the week I was in town for my sister's wedding; it was May in Austin and I needed a distraction from how hot it was outside. Honestly I don't recall which podcast it was, but after W accidentally broke the radio in my car (sidenote: don't let kids put pennies in a CD player) they became a mainstay for me.   I listen to quite a few, but I thought it ... continue reading...

Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Waffles

Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Waffles

We’re nearing the end of summer and in addition to school starting and the promise of cooler weather, we now have what every Arkansan gets excited about: FOOTBALL SEASON! Which also means another fun thing: GAME DAY FOOD! Toss those two together with a spicy Arkansas jalapeño, some freshly grated sharp cheddar and a few heaping cups of fresh-from-the-farm corn and you have yourself a party. These waffles are fantastic, and not just because they’re waffles. Not only are they simple to make, ... continue reading...

Start Somewhere: The End of a Series and What’s Next

hiking in arkansas #onlyinark

I was thinking the other day about several different series of posts I've done on the blog, and y'all? I don't think I've ever officially ended a series. They usually just kind of fall off the face of the blog as I drift into busy work and life seasons and forget the direction I was going with a particular subject. I won't say it's bad - because it's how life has gone and I'm not about to revisit the past - but just an interesting observation.   I have some changes coming up in the ... continue reading...

[via]   YAY for short weeks, amen? I love love love when we have Monday holidays - it feels like a great big extended weekend! This week has been good, easy-ish, and fun, although I'm struggling with figuring out how to cook sometimes. I want so badly to share fun recipes with you guys, but y'all? Life gets in the way. And that's OK. But it's hard to change all of my habits and activities after three+ years.   DID YOU KNOW that the weather is changing drastically and that ... continue reading...

Late Summer Farmer’s Market Pizza

Late Summer Farmer's Market Pizza @heathersdish #pizza #farmersmarket #recipe

Did I ever tell you guys that last summer, in the throws of first trimester morning sickness, I could barely stomach the thought of eating corn?   Honestly. That first trimester stuff is the pits. I look forward to the harvest of fresh sweet corn every year, and last year there were SO MANY amazing recipes that I just couldn't even look at without gagging a little. Needless to say, this summer? I'm all over the amazing sweet corn that's coming out everywhere! Another thing I'm ... continue reading...

Start Somewhere: On Grace and the End of Whole30

#hdstartsomewhere

First up, grace. I'll hit on it in a bit, but I need to let you know that I had to give myself a LOT of it after missing last week's Start Somewhere post. I felt like I needed to give you guys an update on the end of Whole30, but just couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to actually write the post. So there's that - grace please? And thank you?   Last Monday marked the end of Whole30 for us, and y'all? I couldn't have been happier. Seriously, it was dragging on F-O-R-E-V-E-R for me, ... continue reading...

How All Conferences Should Be Measured

#AWBU

This time last weekend I was well into my third Arkansas Women Bloggers University conference, this year in Hot Springs. Y'all, I've talked about it before, but this conference is one that I have deemed a must-do on a yearly basis. It is exactly what a blogging conference should be: informative, fun, relational, challenging, uplifting. And it has ZERO of the cattiness, competition, and clique-iness that I've found at other conferences.   See, when I go to a conference I don't expect ... continue reading...

[via] Last week I talked about joining all of you amazing people on Periscope (my handle is @heathersdish) and then guess what? I totally failed on delivering. BUT! I have an excuse! After my phone flew off my car on the highway a few weeks ago I can no longer turn the camera around...as in the camera on the face of the phone no longer works. Womp womp. And let's face it, Periscope isn't as fun if you can't see the person. So I'm hoping to figure either some fun ways to use it anyway or find a ... continue reading...
