Again I pose the question, how are we even HERE?! My friends, this baby has been rolling around outside of my belly for half a year now. HALF A YEAR. What? When? How?
I can’t even.
However. When I say he’s rolling around, I mean it. The kid never holds still, which means he’s taking after his older brother who is currently screeching the ABC’s at the top of his lungs from his bed as I type this. It’s a miracle that anyone ever sleeps around here. Or stays asleep when they actually DO sleep.
Speaking of yelling, the other day I was walking with both boys through the grocery store and realized just how loud they are. In the confines of our house, the constant shouting and screeching and sounds don’t sound so loud, but in a large public store I finally understood that these kids aren’t shy about letting me know how they feel. And the funny thing? They were both in a great mood! Just very, very loud about it.
Just yesterday we put him on the ground under his play gym, turned around for about 3 seconds, and then looked back only to see the kid on the other side of the kitchen. How did he do that? If I’m watching him he’ll just scream and roll back and forth, but I turn my head for 3 seconds and he’s a ninja! He has also started tucking his legs underneath himself in an attempt to crawl, and I honestly wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he starts being mobile next week.
Did I mention he was inside my belly JUST SIX MONTHS AGO?!
We’ve started introducing more foods and have a solid food feeding once a day. He loves sweet potatoes, peaches, apples, kind of enjoys bananas, and thinks banging on the tray of his little chair is the best thing ever. But more than eating those foods? He likes eating his bibs even more. It’s so funny to see how different these boys are – his older brother was a pretty clean eater, but this kid? Not so much. And he doesn’t even care.
Another big thing? He now has two teeth, and has for some time. When W was little his teeth didn’t come in until after he was already done nursing. Suffice to say that nursing a kid with teeth is a whole new experience, and not always a pleasant one at that. But his sweet little smile is just as cute as ever! He and his brother have the sweetest laughs and giggles, and we just live to get them going.
I honestly can’t wait to see the two of them playing together. I know there will be hard times and hard days, but I know that they – we – will make some amazing memories together.
A, I love you so very much. I didn’t know there was room enough in my heart to adore two little boys so much, but there is – and then some. And my love for you grows every moment of every single day. You are precious, hilarious, sweet, funny, smart, strong, and just so amazing. Our family is so much better having you in it, and I love you! So here’s to the next 6 months, and all of the walking, talking, playing, crazy boy-hoodedness that comes with it!
