I had big plans of cooking, blogging, and otherwise being productive this weekend. But when God hands you a Winter Wonderland, you gotta take advantage of it! Here are a few videos of our adventures :) First off, Nate was trying his hardest to master the Zoomfy, a sled that is so small you have to just sit upright on it while you zoom down the hill. Suffice to say the friends who own it made it look a LOT easier! As for me, I tried the Zoomfy a couple times but ended up just going down ... continue reading...
Need
How is it possible to need chocolate at 7:15 in the morning on a Sunday? Someone please tell me: normal or no? On second thought, don't tell me. I like being blissfully unaware ;) ... continue reading...
Josh & Ashley Getting Married!
You guys remember back in July when we took photos of our friend Josh proposing to his girlfriend (at the time) Ashley? Well, they're getting married today! I've been waiting to share these photos with y'all til now since we didn't want to ruin the photos they were going to use on their wedding invitations. The theme was that they aren't Cooks yet (his last name), so they featured some burned muffins but lots of love. :) This couple is amazing, and I am so excited to watch them get ... continue reading...
Colt & Gray
It's not very often that I hear of a place on Food Network that's near where I live. It's not that Denver/Boulder doesn't have amazing, incredible restaurants...they do! It's just that a lot of the Food Network stars live in places like New York and all over California, so it only makes sense that the places they eat and review are around there too. So you can imagine that when I saw Colt & Gray featured several times on Food Network for various reasons, I knew we would have to try it. ... continue reading...
The Best Cookies You’ll Never Eat
I know you guys are wondering, "What the heck? This girl uses butter, sugar, bacon, and flour in amounts so obscene she needs massive glass jars just to hold it all! What's not to like?" Like I said, I know. It felt weird for me to bake cookies that I would never eat. Cookies with lots of beef broth and cornmeal. Cookies with yeast thrown in the mix. It was weird. But I did it. I did it for love. See? After seeing that recipe aren't you GLAD that I warned you ahead of ... continue reading...
4 Years Ago, Part 2
Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on this morning's post...if you didn't already know, I really love my husband! But something else happened 4 years ago, on this very day. At the time we were clueless as to how it would change our lives forever, but we are so very thankful that it did! 4 years ago today our little Bunker was born! This is the day that we got him...Nate adopted him as a surprise for me, and I have to say that my heart completely melted when I first ... continue reading...
...I married the man of my dreams. But when I say that what I really mean is I married a man that is better than anything I could have ever dreamed of. We have have been through so much together, and I can definitely say that marriage is the hardest thing that I've ever done. It's also the most incredible, the most rewarding, the most comforting, and overall wonderful thing I've ever done. When we got married I didn't think it was possible to love him any more than I did in that moment...but ... continue reading...
Salah
Everyone meet my little sister, Salah. She is awesome. She is hilarious. She is beautiful. She is smart. She is compassionate. She is also a little weird, but I like that. I get it. Which probably means I'm a little weird too. Cest la vie! I love you Scissor! ... continue reading...
Which Is It?
Ashley is on Faces of Beauty today! Stop by and read her amazing story. Candy or cookie? Cookie or candy? According to this initial recipe from Nate's Mimi one can't be too sure! It's similar to this recipe from Cookin' Canuck, but I decided to put my own twist on it. Why? Because I didn't have any graham crackers, oleo, or pecans. Hey, finances are a big part of our New Year's resolutions...and apparently so is creativity from now on! So what did I do ... continue reading...
This Little Guy
This little guy has been my family's pet since I was in high school. And I'd rather not talk about how long that's been, but let's just say it's a sizable chunk of my life. Yikes. This little guy is snuggly, loving, protective of the women in the family, and enamored with my dad. This little guy loves treats, walks, head scratches, and chew sticks. This little guy is staring me down and (although you can't see it) snarling because I was pretending to take that ... continue reading...
Take It Easy
I have to say, coming back from vacation is WAY more work than packing for it and being on it. Especially when said vacationers have a rental car that is loaded with luggage and Christmas gifts. I wish I'd taken a picture of our car filled to the brim with stuff...it was pretty amazing! Even more amazing was the fact that we fit it all into my smaller car when we dropped off the rental and headed home. Miracles DO happen people! Yesterday we were fortunate enough to have the ... continue reading...
Back in the 303
Good morning everyone! I swear...I'm going to be back with more recipes and weirdness soon, but for now I'm having to restock our empty pantry and fridge with goodies to cook with. Til then, though, feel free to marvel at the snowflakes that we got in Colorado over the weekend! P.S. Did you know that Heather's Dish is coming up on it's 1-year blogging anniversary? Seems crazy to me... :) ... continue reading...
