New Obsession

I have a new obsession.

It’s called collecting family cookbooks, only to sit back and read them nostalgically as if I lived during the 1940’s and before.

I really think I might need a life…

About 6-7 years ago when I was living in Kansas, I was helping with our local library’s annual book sale, where they would sell their old books that they were wanting to get rid of. The books were kept in this old store across the street, and we were putting the books into boxes. I happened to find a Kitchen Klatter cookbook in very good condition from the 1960’s that has my mom’s bread and rolls recipe in it! She uses is all the time. The cookbook is not printed anymore, and I don’t think you can find it anywhere! (At the time I lived about 400 some miles away from my parent’s) I also happened to find the Univ of Nebraska 4-H Extension cookbook, that my mom used all the time, which seemed rather strange, since I was living in Kansas, and it was from the 1960’s as well! I thought those were pretty rare finds!

I love old cookbooks too!! My grandma gave me some of hers and I’m obsessed. My mom took all the recipes from my grandma and great grandma, scanned them all in and made us cookbooks. LOVE it because they’re in their handwriting!!!
