When it comes to cooking dinner, I am really in the same boat as everyone else. Sure, we eat something new pretty much every night as a result of a blog post or freelance recipe in the works. But there are those nights that are wildly reserved for just cooking for the fun of cooking. And cooking is SO FUN. Until you realize that you have no clue what sounds good anymore. And you have no creativity left because you let it leak out onto the internet earlier in the week. Then it's just hard ... continue reading...
This IS My Real Job: Moving Forward in Blogging + Great Resources for Bloggers
Wow, the past 5 weeks have FLOWN by! I honestly didn't think that this little series would come to mean so much to so many of you, but I am blessed beyond belief to know that it has touched many of you guys. What would you think about a little ebook on all of this? Please let me know - I only ever want to write something that would help and encourage others! In case you missed the first four parts of the "This IS My Real Job" series, here they are: The Road to Blogging for a ... continue reading...
Playing with My Food: Hard-boiled Egg Boats for Bento Boxes
I think I may be the last person on this planet to know what a Bento Box is. Really. I'm sure most of you are going to be reading this and rolling your eyes like, "Oh geez, Heather, get with the times already!" And I so don't blame you! Although I should warn you now that there are a LOT of things that I need to get caught up on. It's not pretty when your husband knows all the cool songs and trendy things about 6 months before you do...right before they're no longer cool. Or ... continue reading...
The Ultimate Anthropologie Giveaway
I just love Anthropologie, don't you? Beautiful, vintage-y, whistful - it's the style I wish I had, like, all the time. Much to the chagrin of pretty much every stylist out there I traipse around most days, still, in workout clothes and a baseball cap until I shower at night right before Nate comes home. Hey, it may be gross but I know a super cute 17-month-old who doesn't care one bit...in fact he probably loves it that way even more because it means mommy can get down on the floor and ... continue reading...

What I Love About…Tickled Red
Besides the fact that I love getting to know bloggers through their actual blogs, I find more and more (as I said in this post) that I love getting to know them just as much through other social media channels. My favorite outlets are Instagram and Facebook when it comes to learning and seeing more about my favorite bloggers, and Shari is absolutely no exception. Shari is a fellow boy mom who loves her family so well. She's a fantastic cook - I mean, anyone who makes something as ... continue reading...
The Best Broccoli
Did anyone else ever grow up with the absolutely terrible school cafeteria broccoli that, in my opinion, has single-handedly given this yummy veggie a bad name? You know the deal - it was mushy, mealy and sour. This, you guys, is NOT what broccoli tastes like. Broccoli should taste crisp, salty, bitter and otherwise all manner of delicious. My typical way of getting the above flavors is by roasting it. I take a pair of kitchen shears to a few broccoli crowns, remove all of ... continue reading...
This IS My Real Job: Successfully Working with Bloggers (and not selling yourself short if you are a blogger)
First of all, if you've missed any of the previous installments in my "This IS My Real Job" series please check them out below so you can get to know the heart behind it all: The Road to Blogging for a Living A Day in the Life Blogger-to-Blogger Relationships Today's subject is basically exactly what the title says: it's for companies that are looking to work with bloggers AND an encouragement for bloggers to not sell themselves short for the sake of working with brands. It's a fine line, ... continue reading...
Spiced Peach and Oatmeal Crumble
Have I ever told you guys that I am the pickiest fruit eater known to man? It's true. If fruit is pretty much less than perfect it's highly unlikely I'm not going to eat it. It needs to have perfect skin, a deliciously ripe smell, and zero mushiness. Should any of these important qualities be off even a little bit, I'm probably going to say a resounding, "No thank you" to said fruit. I know this sounds crazy. And I know that it's all probably still good and I'll ... continue reading...
#RogersGetaway Weekend: Part 1
The amazing people with the Rogers, AR CVB paid for my entire trip; however, all opinions and recommendations are my own! Ever since we moved to Arkansas last September Nate and I have been trying to figure out a good time to get to Northwest Arkansas. We heard from everyone that it is just gorgeous and there's so much to do there, plus it's known for being a very outdoorsy community, something that really hits home for us. When we initially started thinking about moving away from Colorado we ... continue reading...

Roasted Tri-Color Pepper and Toasted Pecan Pesto
Have you ever roasted peppers before? My friends, your nose AND your tastebuds will be in for the treat of a lifetime! It's kind of one of those things that I rarely take the time to do, but when I actually DO make them I start to feel all awesome at life and stuff for a few minutes. I mean, it seems really complicated - roasting peppers in an oven? Or if you're even fancier, on a gas stove?! - but it really could not be easier. The hardest part is keeping yourself from peeling them too ... continue reading...
