When it comes to blogging a lot of times I find out about truly fantastic bloggers through the relationships I've already made with other bloggers. Rachel is one such instance - one of my blogging friends went on a trip with her last year and texted me the whole time about just how amazing this Rachel gal was. She told me she was super sweet, that she was hilarious, that she was incredibly kind, had a beautiful heart, and that she was from Texas. I immediately started following ... continue reading...
Roasted Jalapeno and Goat Cheese Cornbread
Y'all, I had SUCH BIG PLANS for gardening this year. I dreamed of growing just the most successful container garden in the history of the world, with bushels of zucchini and tomatoes, basil and cilantro and mint galore, and thyme that I could use forever and ever amen. Oh, and buckets of jalapenos. BUCKETS OF 'EM! Alas, this dream did not come to fruition. My zucchini didn't get pollinated enough and the blossoms would bloom beautifully and then drop off the plant, totally ... continue reading...
On Suffering
This past Sunday at church we studied the words of Romans 5:1-5 as it pertains to suffering: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does ... continue reading...
Blog Love: Ricotta Gnocchi
Once upon a time I made gnocchi. And it was good - very, very good. But when I was making it I became a hot and sweaty mess because y'all, gnocchi is traditionally made with boiled and mashed potatoes + a lot of mixing and rolling and cutting and (if you're super fancy) rolling again along the tines of a fork to make them all beautiful and traditional looking. It makes me get a little sweaty just thinking about all of that work! Don't get me wrong, there are times that I really enjoy making ... continue reading...

On Steadfastness
First up, how cute and how GROWN UP is my little guy?! Do y'all remember how he used to be teensy? And now he's just more and more the little dude every day. I love him. Something I have been meditating on lately - and when I say meditating, I really mean it - is Isaiah 26:3: You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust you. If I'm being honest, I rarely study the Old Testament of God's word. I just never really felt like ... continue reading...
Oven-Roasted Honey Garlic Cedar Plank Salmon
When it comes to salmon I say the simpler the better. I mean, I would definitely not say no to a great piece of fish that's flavored well, but when it comes to cooking at home for my family I really like to get a great cut of salmon and season it simply, letting the flavor of the fish shine through. I made this for dinner last week and literally could not stop my mouth from watering while it cooked! The cedar planks are definitely key to this really yummy and subtly-flavored ... continue reading...
