I swear, I'm really not trying to make so many ice cream flavors. It just keeps happening and there's just nothing I can do to stop it, you know? It's like Kevin James' dancing "skills" in Hitch - you can't stop it; you caaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnot stop it! Q-tip. Q-tip. Q-tip. And throw it away. I digress... I decided what the heck, why not make more sorbet this time around? I mean it's good and sweet and practically health food since it's made with fruit, and this ... continue reading...
He Sees You
Friends, even when we're beaten, broken, ashamed, and lost in a desert wilderness the Lord sees us. You are never alone and you are always loved, always cherished. I pray that you know that truth today! Much love, Heather ... continue reading...
This IS My Real Job: The Road to Blogging for a Living
Good morning friends! I just want to start out by saying that I really don't exactly what inspired this, but I'm going to do a 5-part series over the next few weeks on the fact that YES, blogging is my real job. It's part proclamation, part explanation, and hopefully somewhere along the way it will be used to help and inspire others as well. Even if you're not a blogger I'm hoping that some of these words will be something you can use in your own life! My heart behind this is simply to share ... continue reading...
Roasted Red Pepper and Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts
Y'all. Goat cheese. I absolutely cannot get enough of it! The creamy texture, the fairly pungent but deliciously salty taste, the way that it brings a little foodie flair to just about anything? So amazing! The other day Nate and I were having a discussion, once again, about why he hates feta. Looking back on it I really can't recall why he doesn't like it, but for some reason that day I was nodding in understanding. He doesn't like feta, one of my favorite cheeses ever, but ... continue reading...
Story’s Sky
As I type this I'm sitting in seat 8A of an American Eagle flight from Chicago to Little Rock. We're running about 2 hours behind when we were supposed to have left from Illinois, and to say I'm severely disheartened that I probably won't get to see Weston tonight is an understatement. As we were sitting on the runway and preparing to leave, I thought about some other upcoming trips we have this year where I will be able to travel with Wes; how much fun and challenging it will be to travel with ... continue reading...
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Gelato
First I feel like I should share with you guys that a little salt is so incredibly key to this gelato. I mean, I remember thinking nothing could go wrong with brown sugar and cinnamon, and to be fair nothing went "wrong" per se, but the second time I made this I added some salt and WHOA what a difference a little seasoning makes in the grand scheme of ice cream goodness. You want the salt. Trust me. Second, can we just go ahead and call this healthy ice cream? I ... continue reading...

What I Love About…Mountain Mama Cooks
I feel like every week I start off with, "I don't remember how I started to follow this blogger..." type comments, and today is no exception. I have been reading Kelley's blog for over 2 years now, and looking back I just can't recall how I found her. All I know is that I'm so thankful I did! I also had a dream come true this past week and got to meet Kelley in person in Michigan (more on that to come soon!)! It's not very often that you get to meet a favorite blogger in person, and I can't ... continue reading...
3-Minute Avocado Toast with Hard-Boiled Eggs
This snack. I can't even come up with the words you guys - I have literally been having it every day for the past week and a half and there's no way I see myself getting tired of it any time soon. It's filling and super flavorful but simple, and pretty much everything a good snack should be. First of all, let me just share this: I am SO EXCITED to be working with Great Day Farms to help develop recipes and find new uses for their fantastic eggs. The product is outstanding and we used ... continue reading...
Measurements
I have not made it a big secret in this space that there was a time that I struggled big time with certain measurements. Measurements of my weight, my waist, my IQ, talents and athletic abilities. Measurements that brought about the approval of strangers, of fashion, of teachers and coaches and, most unhealthily, of my myself. I felt for so long like I needed to be perfectly within very stringent measurements in all aspects of my life in order to love myself, to be ... continue reading...
The Lazy Girl’s Pain au Chocolat (20-minute Chocolate Croissants)
Do y'all remember that time when I told you I was obsessed with two things: potatoes and chocolate croissants? Well, those obsessions are still standing, but more specifically (as I'm sure you can tell by the title of this post) the whole chocolate croissant thing is starting to get out of hand. Honestly? I can't let myself go to certain stores nearby that I know carry chocolate croissants because I will always, without a doubt, get one. The other night I took a quick trip to one because ... continue reading...
State of Motherhood Address
The State of Motherhood – Food This month I've really been focusing on cutting back on the amount of sugar I eat, which you guys? SO HARD. I guess I didn't realize how much I was actually eating until I took an inventory of it for a few days and read Sarah Wilson's I Quit Sugar e-book. I really liked her approach of going off sugar as an experiment - to reduce the amount that we eat and really pay attention to how the body reacts. I'll be darned if what she said wasn't true and that I was ... continue reading...
