This past weekend was basically your quintessential summer weekend. With family in town and a few great places to go under our belts, we rarely spent any time outside of either the water (swimming) or our beds (sleeping). There was that one time on Saturday morning where we went to the farmer's market for about 30 minutes in which I had no fewer than 15 individuals comment on just how "busy" my little boy is, always guessing his exact age in the process. Some might find that kind of conversation ... continue reading...
A Day in the Life
I get so many questions and emails from you guys (keep 'em coming, I love it!) about the fact that I work from home doing this food blogging thing as well as mothering. I've always said that I'm a mommy first, blogger second, but if I'm being completely honest it's a real struggle for me at times to keep it that way. See, there's this thing called an ego - and that little thing pushes me to do MORE MORE MORE to grow my blog and make things happen, but the reality is that the most important thing ... continue reading...

I know I'm a little late to the game, but I love this post about The French Laundry. What a cool way to honor a great teacher, and y'all know I'm all over the foodie part of it! This post about embracing the analog really spoke to me, especially this week. I've been working really hard to do just that, and rather than mindlessly fooling around on my iPhone or checking email I've been trying to read or play or laugh instead. Isn't it crazy how much more fun life is when we live ... continue reading...
Dijon-Roasted Purple Potatoes
This summer has been such a season of inspiration for me. Whether it's hanging out with amazing local bloggers, going glamping with friends, making the Saturday farmer's markets a priority, or just being OK with swimming instead of working - it's made me fall in love with summer all over again. Five years into this blogging job of mine and I'm finally just now getting that being on call 24/7 is a myth, and the beauty of it is that I choose when I work. Taking the summer, not totally off, but off ... continue reading...
Sweet Basil Lemon Iced Tea
I don't know about you guys, but I was one of the first people in line to buy the Naptime Diaries Abide Journal when it was released because summer is a time of (as Jessi says) deep, deep abiding for me. It's also the time of year when sponsored content requests and brand partnerships start to increase dramatically for all of us food bloggers, so I KNEW that I needed to recalibrate life and find a place where following Jesus and abiding in him alone came first. feel like the timing in ... continue reading...
Glamourous Camping = Glamping
One thing my dad always told us was that when he married my mom he made a promise to her father that he would show her as much of the world as possible. When my sister and I came along that promise then extended to us, and I have to say that he - both of my parents, actually - have held true to their word. They've shown us a lot of this beautiful world and even more of this great nation. A more thankful two daughters they could not find! However. I do very vividly remember a ... continue reading...
Grilled Herbed Goat Cheese, Fresh Peach + Roasted Red Pepper Sandwich
I don't talk about it on here a lot, but my husband is an incredible cook. Seriously. I have kind of taken over our kitchen because of my job, but the days that Nate takes over are kind of amazing. When we first started dating we would cook together constantly, and while the kitchen clean-up task has certainly brought about its share of arguments, we're usually so full of good food that it almost doesn't matter. There was one point in time where Nate would make the most amazing ... continue reading...

One of the coolest things I’ve been seeing in blogging lately is bloggers working to share the love with one another by sharing some of their favorite posts from the week. Since I love that encouragement and am constantly inspired by my amazing “co-workers” my hope is to start sharing some of my favorite posts and sites every Thursday! Y’all enjoy! After my own story of miscarriage my heart immediately goes out and my eyes immediately well up when I hear of friends who are or may be ... continue reading...

Fresh Corn and Smoked Sausage Frittata
This recipe is an original that I was contracted to create for the Arkansas Farm Bureau. Growing up corn was always a staple in our summer menus. My mom always made the absolute best grilled barbecue chicken, the likes of which haven't been matched even to this day, and on the side we would have potato salad and corn with butter and black pepper. The days when I had braces were some of the hardest of my life because those sweet ears of corn had to be shorn of their kernels to be eaten, and ... continue reading...

The Easiest Creamy Iced Coffee Ice Cubes
Want to know a funny story? Every time I make iced coffee concentrate now I put it in a plastic pitcher and triple check my hold on it before sliding over to the fridge to put it in. Y'all, I know it sounds silly but I really can't even tell you how sad I was that I dropped that jar of liquid gold all over the floor a while ago! And the wound was only further aggravated by the fact that our house smelled like rich, gorgeous coffee all day...only to have none in it. Sad face. But that's ... continue reading...
