Chobani Review + Giveaway

A couple weeks ago the wonderful people at Chobani sent me their newest flavors to review and do a giveaway with you guys for…and since I’m basically obsessed with Greek yogurt I couldn’t really say no, you know?

The massive box arrived at work and I couldn’t wait to jump in.  I mean, Apple Cinnamon, Passion Fruit and Blood Orange can’t be bad, you know?

If I’m being honest here I really love the 2% yogurt best because it’s SOOOOOO creamy and filling.

But my favorite flavor of the bunch, hands down, was the Blood Orange.  Tangy and sweet, and perfect with a handful of blueberries and a sprinkling of granola.

YES PLEASE.

So whatcha think?  Want to try these great flavors from Chobani for yourself?  Leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite yogurt flavor is, how you like to cook with yogurt, or maybe just a funny story.  I could laugh a little these days 🙂 Contest will be open until midnight on Tuesday, March 6, and is open to all US residents!

**Chobani sent me these samples to try and review; all opinions are my own and I was not compensated (except in yogurt)!**

I replace the butter in my quick breads with yogurt. They stay plenty moist since they have banana or pumpkin in there as well. I have been dying to try the blood orange but none of the stores around me carry it, I’ve checked them all!

Yum, I love Greek yogurt! We now keep it in the house all.the.time although we mostly have plain. My husband likes it as a post-workout snack with honey and I love it by itself or using it in baking (I’m planning to make Smitten Kitchen’s double coconut muffins this week).

My husband’s favorite flavor is also the blood orange!

My favorite use for Chobani though is to make NaCHO Cheese Sauce!

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
    12 ounces plain 0% Chobani
8 ounces reduced fat shredded mexican cheese
    2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
    1/4 teaspoon chili powder
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne
    Salt & pepper, to taste

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the flour, using a wire whisk to stir until smooth. Add the yogurt; stir until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients; stir constantly until cheese is completely melted and smooth.

It is really great on a pile of nachos!

I love Chobani! My husband picks on me about having to have the expensive yogurt. I have had the apple cinnomon and I love it….my favorite by far is the mango or black cherry.

I like to use the plain for overnight oats in a jar or in my spinach smoothes on sundays!!!
Funny story: I recently got married and I have a step daughter, I made her a bowl of cookie crisps like every Sunday(we go to church early so its quick meals) She looked at me as I sat down and said “you eat the weirdest food ever…who eats green ice cream!!”

    She is a mess.

I love Chobani and my fav is honestly the plain. That way I can dress it up whichever way I want!

Semi-related story: At my first job out of college, I worked at a call center and could not leave for lunch due to a strict schedule. So I would bring a morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and sometimes dinner, too. Anyway, my snacks usually consisted of yogurt and one day, I had some seriously amazing yogurt (prob Chobani) packed away in a plastic bag in the common area fridge. Well…wouldn’t you know it that around 10am when I went to grab my yogurt I was SOOOO looking forward to (plus, I was hungry!) it was gone. G.O.N.E. with the wind, gone. I = pissed. No one ever admitted to the yogurt theft either. Ever since that day, I’ve wised up and pack my snacks/lunch in a black, non-see through cooler bag. 🙂

I have a funny story and it actually has to do with Chobani. I take it every morning to work for a snack. Of course, I rave about how amazing it is. One of my co-workers mentioned how she had never had it before and since I talked so much about it, asked where she could buy it. The next day, I asked her if she had tried it. She hesitantly told me that she had, and she really didn’t like it. I was shocked, since I’ve never met anyone that didn’t like it. So later that morning, I was in the break room stirring it up, getting ready to eat, and she comes in and says “Oh, you’re supposed to stir it? I couldn’t figure out where the fruit was!” We both, of course, thought this was hilarious!! She tried it again and loved it. 🙂

I am addicted to Greek yogurt, so yes we just eat it. I also make curry one a week, and it’s always served with a dollop of yogurt on top. Also, we make a morning blender drink pretty much every day that has orange juice, Trader Joe’s protein powder, various fruits (often frozen ones that I cut and stock-pile) and … (wait for this it sounds odd but really works) … some cold cooked oatmeal and, of course, some yogurt.
