Cherry Vanilla Ciabatta Bread Pudding

Fact:  there is absolutely no better smell than bread pudding baking.  Unless you count eating it as a smell.  Then that's the best. I have to say, I love ciabatta bread.  The problem with it for me is that sometimes it can be TOO crusty.  It's so light and airy on the inside but that super crunchy crispy crusty crust can be a bit hard to handle, especially when you come away with the roof of your mouth torn up.   Not that I have done that.  But I can imagine.   OK fine, ... continue reading...

What To Do?

OK.  So this is shockingly unimportant but I need your help deciding whether or not to keep growing my hair out!   Here's the deal:  for about 5 years now I've been dreaming of having long hair for the first time in my life...like REALLY long hair.  My hair is curly and I keep it blond, so this is kind of what it would look like...you know, with my face. [source] Gorgeous, right?!  Here's the problem:  I can't seem to do anything with it.  I wear it curly and it looks great, but ... continue reading...

Maple Roasted Carrots

When Nate and I first got married he would ask for one side and one side dish alone:  brown sugar carrots. The problem?  I had no idea what those were.  Still don't really know what they are or how to make them.  Sure, that's what Google's for - or, you know, asking people - but what's the fun in that?  I figured that if he couldn't tell me how to make them then we'd make another side dish.  So all these years (4.5 years!) we've yet to make a side dish with cooked ... continue reading...

Blueberry Breakfast Cookies

I don't know about you but there is no way that I can survive a day without breakfast. I used to totally be that person who would drink a cup of coffee (a HUGE cup of coffee at that) and try to make it til lunch where I would inevitably be starving.  I don't know why I did that, but breakfast foods just never sounded that great to me.  I'm not a cereal gal and eggs and oatmeal take too long.  Plus all I ever really craved was the coffee.   These days you don't want to meet me without ... continue reading...

To Have Hope

I think one of the worst parts about having a miscarriage is the fact that there will still always be women who are pregnant and having babies around you.  Whether it's friends, family, or that stranger in the grocery store...you'll see them everywhere.  And as much as you want to be happy for them, as excited as you might be for them, you can't help but have an overwhelming bitterness about the fact that someone else is going to have a baby and it feels like you never will.   I hate ... continue reading...

Green Chile Sour Cream Enchiladas

As I sit here pouring through emails, editing photos, and generally working on getting my life together I am eating cold (yes, cold) leftover enchiladas from last night.  I COULD show you guys a new cookie recipe...but since all I can think about are these enchiladas and I think that you should make them as soon as you possibly can, I'm re-posting the recipe for that instead.  Seriously, make them.  Now.  I love you.  The end. ______________________________________________ Growing up my sister ... continue reading...

Blog Love – Salted Mudslide Cookies

Last night I was tired. So tired in fact that in the midst of watching Lord of the Rings I passed out on the couch only to be awakened by my husband at a late hour to go to real bed.  Crankily I stumbled up the stairs while he cleaned up my mess in the kitchen and let the dogs out, brushed my teeth, and threw my body into our bed.  This morning I woke up and realized, "CRAP!!!!  I forgot to make treats for the office!!!"   I never really talk about it a lot on here, but every week I ... continue reading...

Sun Chlorella Sun Eleuthero Tea

I'm a sucker for tea.  That, coupled with yoga and/or a nap are things that just make me sit back and go, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" at the end of a long day! You can imagine how excited I was to be contacted by Sun Chlorella to try their new Sun Eleuthero Tea!  Here's how they got started:   "It all began as a single man's dream - the dream of our founding father, Mr. Hideo Nakayama. Upon experiencing an onslaught of illnesses that left his body battered, he made a fateful discovery that ... continue reading...

Oven Baked BBQ Chicken Breasts

This recipe was born from necessity. Need an explanation?  It was necessary for me to make dinner for one of my sweet friends from work who just had a baby, and I promised BBQ chicken.  I needed to deliver BBQ chicken.  I wanted to.   The problem was that the store didn't have a full chicken to cut up OR one that was already cut up.  The only thing it had was boneless skinless (i.e. flavorless) chicken breasts!  Really, what store only stocks those?  I had full plans to make ... continue reading...

Whole Living Smoothies

I'm actually really picky about the apps that I download on my phone.  It's almost a little ridiculous.  I've kind of been known to add an app and then totally delete it 2 days later because I never use it.  And I only buy an app if I know I'm going to really want it.   Because this girl ain't buying something and then throwing it away.  No sirree! So when offered the chance to use the new "Whole Living Smoothies" app from Martha Stewart I jumped at the chance.  Free app?  OK!  ... continue reading...

Godiva Chocolate Affogato

Have you ever had an affogato? It's basically heaven.  Heaven being a scoop of vanilla gelato topped with a shot of espresso.  And since you and I are LIKETHIS I think we can both agree that heaven will be made up of affogatos and pizza, right?   Right. If you didn't know, I love coffee.  I used to think it smelled terrible, but now the moment the scent hits my nose I go crazy.  Happy crazy.  In fact, when I worked at Starbucks I would always volunteer to put the espresso beans ... continue reading...

Strawberries ‘N’ Cream Pancakes

I never really understood the strawberries 'n' cream phenomenon. Growing up we rarely, if ever, had cream in our house.  And when we had strawberries those bad boys were getting chopped up and macerated in sugar and eaten with a spoon.  No fuss no muss and it was the easiest way to get the sweet berries into our mouths the fastest.  Oh sure, I heard of strawberries 'n' cream but that just sounded straight messy and since I never really knew what cream was anyway?  Oh well! Now that I'm older ... continue reading...
