Comments on this post are now closed, and the winner of the giveaway is: Karri S! Thank you all so much for participating! Besides the fact that this blogging community is made up of awesome and inspiring people, one of the things that I (obviously) love is the multitude of delicious recipes that I can find online at any given moment. Whether it's actually specifically for my blog, or just a quick weeknight dinner, or both, I am in a constant state of looking for something delightful to ... continue reading...
10-Minute Creamy Ricotta Spinach & Shells
I'm starting to understand what moms mean when they say they have no time. To be totally honest I wasn't all that great about time management prior to having Weston, but now? It's practically nonexistent. I keep meaning to get a calendar to help me because apparently the ones I have going on my phone and Gmail accounts aren't doing the trick. I have to actually write stuff down to actually get stuff done. I know I'm not the only one out there who needs one, but it's just spending that ... continue reading...
Autumn
I don't know about where y'all live, but autumn is still in full swing here in Arkansas. The trees are still changing, there is a lingering crispness in the air and the sun still shines brightly. The nights get darker faster, but the days are so intensely beautiful that it almost doesn't matter. Autumn is one of those times that make me sit back and, exploring the beauty of what surrounds me, reflect. The colors are brighter and more vibrant. The trees that we don't take notice ... continue reading...
Live Out Joy & Compassion: Operation Christmas Child
This past weekend I was humbled in a big way. Saturday morning I woke up and went to Walmart to buy a plastic shoebox and a bunch of fun things to fill it, praying that I would pick the right things to bless a sweet little boy somewhere in this great big world. The concept of things that kids like is still pretty new to me. Wes is at the point where he just wants to explore everything, and usually his toys are the last on that list. He likes spoons and jump rope handles and shaker bottle lids ... continue reading...
Crazy Easy Sausage Spirals
You guys. I really cannot even begin to describe how simple these are. I had no intentions of blogging about this breakfast (hence the one photo), but I just feel that it would practically be a sin to not share this with y'all. A few years ago we were actually here in Little Rock for a massive 10-day road trip from Colorado to Little Rock to Dallas to Lubbock to Colorado. It was crazy, but we were two childless yahoos back then. Anyway, while we were here my mother in law made ... continue reading...
Pumpkin Cupcakes for Two…or One
You guys. You'd think I would have learned my lesson with making pumpkin stuff around here, right? Apparently not. Apparently I jumped on the pumpkin train a little late and now I'm trying my hardest to make up for it. Only there's just me to eat it all - which would be fine if I didn't care about fitting into all of my jeans this winter. But I do. So I've resorted to this: making small batches or small quantity recipes for just me, myself and I. Which should, you know, explain the ... continue reading...
My Guys
This weekend I didn't cook anything. Nothing. Zero. Well, that's sort of a lie. I did make something amazing out of Jenny's amazing book for our Friday night dinner. Details on that soon. But other than that I didn't cook anything. We took this weekend and we spent time together as a family. We played and napped and tried our hardest to soothe our sweet teething baby. We filmed a video in our back yard that I'm going to show you later this week. We tried new ... continue reading...
Big Puffy Pumpkin-Spiced Chocolate Chip Cookies
I'll tell y'all one thing: Nate is getting SERIOUSLY tired of the pumpkin-flavored bomb that went off at our house in the past couple of weeks. The cinnamon, the ginger, the cardamom, the pumpkin. It's true: my handsome man is NOT a pumpkin fan. It's basically his only fault. Me on the other hand? I love the stuff. So much so that I've had to put a ban on myself with baking for a while; since Nate doesn't love pumpkin I've found that I justhaveto eat it all and my waistline is ... continue reading...
#50ShadesofID
Oh coffee. Nectar of the gods. One of the things I look forward to most in the mornings (other than waking up next to my hot husband and snuggling my cutiepatootie baby). I mean really, it's JUST.SO.GOOD. When I worked at Starbucks we had a couple of customers and baristas alike who would try and cheat the system by ordering grande coffee in a venti cup and filling it the rest of the way up with milk - to achieve a latte effect that, let's face it, is really nothing like a latte. But ... continue reading...
Cherry Almond Oatmeal Breakfast Bars
When I was pregnant with Weston I would treat myself to two things from Whole Foods once a week: a massive hot bar box of Indian food (Nate doesn't dig curry and I could eat it for days) and a massive - really, think size-of-your-face-massive - raspberry oatmeal bar. Since it's Whole Foods and you can't leave there without actually spending part of your retirement it was a once-a-week treat that I looked forward to for the entire 2nd and 3rd trimesters. While I can't totally claim ... continue reading...
Halloween Oreo Frozen Yogurt
OK here's the deal: I'm not going to pretend this is healthy, although it's certainly healthier than full-fat ice cream. I'm not going to pretend that it's not just as delicious though. You guys know me - when it comes to Halloween I'm not super involved. I love handing out candy to kiddos who stop by, but I'm don't dream for months about costumes or parties. It's just not that big of a deal for me - but if you give me a chance to play with Oreos? I'm all in. ALL IN I TELL ... continue reading...
Taking a Day
Last night I was on my way to the grocery store when I came around a bend in the road only to be see the night sky lit up in emergency vehicle lights. It appeared that only moments before I hopped in my car this horribly tragic accident took place. When I saw the cars on the side of the road, the paramedics putting bodies on stretchers, and police everywhere I immediately started to pray - for those people, for the medics/police/firemen, for all of the people on the road. When I came back ... continue reading...
