5 Things I’ve Learned…From Being Married

Being married is FUN!  I know that's the idea anyway - that marriage is fun - but I feel like so many times people talk about how hard marriage is.  And it is...hard that is.  But it's also the most fun I've had in my entire life.  I tell Nate this all the time, but I have more fun every day and he gets even funnier to me every day.  I love being with my best friend! Marriage is also hard.  You go from being single and doing whatever you want to being married to someone, living with someone, ... continue reading...

Homemade White Chocolate Mocha

Homemade White Chocolate Mocha from @HeathersDish

It's no secret that once upon a time I worked for Starbucks - I've talked about it on here a few times, probably all in relation to my crazy obsession with coffee.  SPEAKING OF WHICH, any suggestions on a new coffee maker?  Ours is several years old and while it does still actually make coffee it just feels like a good time to look into getting a new machine.  I love the idea of a Keurig, but let's be honest: the cost of the machine + the cost of the cups isn't really budget-friendly.  Unless ... continue reading...

Honey Balsamic Whole Roasted Carrots

Honey Balsamic Roasted Carrots from @HeathersDish

I had a plan today to talk about carrots. However, last night I went to an amazing event being held at our church here in Little Rock and I can't stop thinking about it.   The world is an ugly, ugly place.  Orphans and abused children with nowhere to go, human trafficking, civil wars, hatred, genocide, the abuse of animals, international hunger, drugs, environmental issues, and it goes on and on and on.   Honestly it can be overwhelming.  When I think about it I get ... continue reading...

Molasses Crinkles of Love

Once upon a time in my younger years my Mimi would make us her molasses crinkles to take home every time we’d go visit her over the holidays. This was a great idea because I LOVED those cookies, and yet my parents were in charge of the gallon-sized plastic bag of them. While it wasn’t fun, they rationed them out to us over the following several days, making sure I would get my cookie fix but not put myself in a sugar coma. When I got a little older I played volleyball and golf in high school. ... continue reading...

How to DIY: Personalized Yarn Wreath

I feel so fancy these days. Here's the thing:  I'm so not a fancy person.  I like super casual clothes and am pretty laid-back (see also: sloppy) in most areas of my life. Forget the yoga pants - I'm the mom that runs around in running shorts and my husband's old Texas Tech intramural sports T-shirts.  I feel like yoga pants you can at least dress up; there's no hope for running shorts and T-shirts that are truly 2-3 sizes too big for me. We live in a rental house and, regardless of how ... continue reading...

Saturday Joy

Saturday Morning Pancake Stack

Good SATURDAY morning!   I hope you have a stack of pancakes the size of your head, covered in butter and drizzled with syrup. Or maybe applesauce and powdered sugar. Peanut butter and chocolate? Strawberries and whipped cream? However you take 'em, I hope that you can enJOY today!!! May the God of HOPE fill you with JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the POWER of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 ... continue reading...

5 Things I’ve Learned…From Becoming a Mother

Oh hey there ;) Over the past few weeks I've really bee reflecting on different segments of my life and how much I've learned from each part.  It's amazing how little I really knew when I was a high school kid, college student, recent college graduate and in my early 20's!  Writing this all out seems to be the thing that solidifies the growth in my journey through life thus far, so over the next however many weeks I am going to share 5 things I've learned from different parts of my life with ... continue reading...

The Most Delicious Red Chicken Chili

Once upon a time I was a self-proclaimed chili snob.  I swore up and down, left and right that I only liked TRUE Texas chili, could only eat it with cheese and Fritos, and anyone who tried to get me to eat something otherwise was just plain silly.   I was such a young crazy kid.  I flipping love chili, and pretty much any and every chili ever made.  I can be completely honest now:  I don't discriminate.  I like it with beans and without, red and white, all kinds of meat, vegetarian or ... continue reading...

I Painted a Painting

Y'all, I have been feeling so crafty lately. Honestly I don't know why or how - I like being creative, but I haven't ever had just this burning desire to make something at all times.  Could it be the waning pregnancy/postpartum hormones?  Or the fact that I have a baby now?  Or now I'm staying at home with our little guy and (as if I don't have enough to do) and I can actually take time to make things if I want to?   No clue.  But I'm going with it.   Embracing it ... continue reading...

Sweet & Smoky Blueberry Barbeque Sauce

As I'm typing this post I practically have a splint around my left index finger. I don't know why, but for weeks I've laid in bed at night thinking about food that I'm going to make for the blog and for dinners around our house, and when I get to the chopping veggies part I have this weird vision of cutting my finger really badly.  It's almost subconsciously, and then all of a sudden my vision of beautifully chopped vegetables is clouded by, "OH CRAP I CUT MY FINGER!"  So so so very ... continue reading...
