What I’m Loving Now + {Gains Project Giveaway}

Cocoa Beanz HooRag

Comments on this entry are now closed. The winner is: PHOEBE!!! (comment #11)   I don't really do posts like this that often, probably because I'm so oblivious to most things that I use all the time in real life to even thing about it.  It just seems natural to use these products, though, which is probably one of the best indicators that the item is AMAZING.  Plus there's a fantastic giveaway below - trust me, you don't want to miss it!  So here goes: HooRag in Cocoa Beanz - I really ... continue reading...

5 Things I’ve Learned…From the Power Outage

Power Outage 2012

I am still working on a few more serious "5 Things" posts, but yesterday our power went out and I found myself - HORROR OF HORRORS - disconnected from the world!  And you know what?   It was probably one of the most fun days we've had so far.  No TV, no distractions, no dangerous power outlets to explore (even though they're covered anyway).  Wes and I had a great time walking and crawling and playing and cleaning and just generally enjoying the day, even if it was cold ... continue reading...

How to DIY: Easy & Inexpensive Christmas Card Holder

How to DIY: Easy & Inexpensive Christmas Card Holder from @HeathersDish

The crafting of the insufficient crafter continues; this time we're throwing a little holiday decorating into the mix!   Here's the deal: we have a big plastic tub that is filled to the brim with our Christmas decorations and I kind of like it that way.  We have a bunch of fun ornaments that we've accumulated over the years, plus the ones that our parents gave us from when we were kiddos.  This is something I'm totally fine with - I love ornaments!  What I don't love though?  The idea ... continue reading...

Authentic Italian Red Sauce (in a Crock Pot!)

Authentic Italian Red Sauce (in a Crock Pot!) from @HeathersDish

I'm confused. I guess let me start off with this (not-so-new) nugget of info:  I'm obsessed with Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  Like to the point that I've literally seen every.single.episode.  To the point that my husband is sick and tired of coming home and seeing re-runs on TV.  To the point that should you engage me in a conversation about the show, you should probably be prepared to chat for a minimum of an hour about it.   Obsessed.  Really.   So here's where ... continue reading...

Diet Coke Brownies and Grilled Pineapple a la Mode

Grilled Pineapple a la Mode

You guys.  I am so sorry.   See, I've been a contributor over at ChefMom for a while now and I've been totally slacking...totally slacking on sharing the recipes I create that is!  I'm thinking over the next few weekends I'm going to play catch-up on posting the past few month's worth of recipes from ChefMom on here, and then will share on a weekly basis as they go live!  So without further ado, here are a few recipes from June (I KNOW RIGHT) that I made - I hope you enjoy! GRILLED ... continue reading...

5 Things I’ve Learned…From Blogging

Fresh Apples // Photo by @HeathersDish

Man oh man, I could write a 3-volume book on the things I've learned from blogging.  Here are 5 that I'm marinating on these days ;) I'm not actually that cool.  What a way to start off, right?  I guess what I'm saying here is that my day is pretty much the same every day.  I don't really have any big quirks (that I'm aware of) to laugh about on a consistent basis.  I freak out about laundry not getting done and when my kitchen is a big mess the world just feels a little off.  Yesterday the ... continue reading...

Cranberry Tangerine Breakfast Loaf

Cranberry Tangerine Breakfast Loaf from @HeathersDish

Below you'll see a picture of an orange and not a tangerine. See, this breakfast loaf recipe below?  It's my standard cranberry orange recipe but I subbed in tangerine zest because, well, I didn't have enough oranges on hand.  What can I say, I'm a little resourceful and maybe just a smidge embarrassed.  But that's life, right?  However I will say this - the tangerine zest gives a sweeter and even a slighty different citrus flavor than the orange zest does.  Sure, it may not be noticeable ... continue reading...

In Christ Alone

Gorgeous Maui Coastline // Photograph by HeathersDish.com

Once upon a time I was a really great vocalist.  So good in fact that I beat out some of the best singers in my school's region for a chance at singing with the state choir. On the day of my final audition I lost my voice for the first time in my entire life.  There was no rescheduling, there was no replay: this was it.  So I sang the best that I could, and (needless to say) didn't get called back.  My voice came back later that day, but the damage had been done.  Shortly after I focused more ... continue reading...

Spinach Salad with Gorgonzola, Cranberries, Almonds and Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

Spinach Salad with Gorgonzola, Cranberries, Almonds and Honey Garlic Vinaigrette from @HeathersDish

This salad has literally been consumed every day for the past 4 weeks.  Exaggeration?  I wish...but not really. I don't even remember what prompted this, but one day I realized that I just don't have enough gorgonzola cheese in my life.  Nate doesn't like it so I don't do a lot of dishes that utilize it, which means it's basically reserved for going out to eat when I get my own plate of food.  Or when I just use it in something and don't tell him.   Oh hey Nate.  That doesn't ... continue reading...

Your Blessings Count!

Can you believe that Christmas is only 2 weeks away? I know I say it all the time, but this year is literally flying by. I can't believe we're almost to 2013 when it feels like just last month we hit the 2012 marker. With time flying by the way it does, one of the best things I (we) can do is take time to actually sit back and reflect on the blessings in our lives. It's so easy to look at the surface-level stuff and choose to be happy or unhappy, but to really understand the blessings in ... continue reading...

9 Months Old!

I absolutely cannot believe I'm the mom of a 9-month-old little dude.  Fastest and best 9 months of my life; I am so thankful for a great pregnancy, but he's so much more fun on the outside! I feel like nothing has changed and at the same time EVERYTHING has changed.  His transitions from each milestone to the next are so smooth and almost seamless, so it feels like he's always been pulling himself up on the coffee table.  Like he came out of the womb that way or something!  Right now he's ... continue reading...
