Can you believe that Christmas is only 2 weeks away? I know I say it all the time, but this year is literally flying by. I can’t believe we’re almost to 2013 when it feels like just last month we hit the 2012 marker.
With time flying by the way it does, one of the best things I (we) can do is take time to actually sit back and reflect on the blessings in our lives. It’s so easy to look at the surface-level stuff and choose to be happy or unhappy, but to really understand the blessings in every area of our lives – including those that were maybe unexpected – well, it does a soul some good.
I am so thankful to have been chosen to write about this incredible mantra from Mercy and see that the little things – the being thankful and grateful in the midst of life. Those little things count, they mean something. And then the realization that those little things? Not so little at all!
So let’s practice together, shall we? Pull up a chair, grab a mug of coffee (make it a double?) and let’s share our blessings with one another! I know that the crazy busy next two weeks are going to be amazing, and even more so when we all take this time to be thankful!
I am blessed beyond belief to have married my best friend and to have had our first son and our two dogs. My parents and sister are incredible in every way possible. I adore my in-laws, our new city, our new church, my job(s), and the fact that we live in a great neighborhood. I am so blessed to be as healthy as I am. Most importantly though I am so thankful and so very blessed that God considered me a friend when I was (and sometimes still am) anything but. I finally know who I am, and even if it’s not perfect it’s OK because I am redeemed!
Mercy recognizes the stress we put on ourselves and our families over the holidays. They want to remind us that ‘Our greatest blessing is to see others blessed.’ One way we can do this is to pause, list our blessings, and share them with others. Let’s count our blessings together at www.ourblessingscount.com.
