Hey y’all!  How’s your Hump Day going?  Mine’s AWESOME!!!  Why?  Let’s see…

Mustache Madness was/is today, and even though I don’t LOVE Nate’s mustache, it has been great to see the entire company participate in something fun.  There’s been a lot of laughter around the office!  Also, it’s the end of my company’s fiscal year, so they arranged for the ENTIRE COMPANY to have a free 10-minute massage from Bodywork Boutique!  Talk about raising moral, that definitely did it for me!

Sad part:  it’s one of my co-worker’s last days (she’s amazing – everyone loves her).  I don’t want her to go, but the cool thing is we got FREE pizza to celebrate her working here!

I had this slice, which had tomatoes, olives, green bell peppers, and onions.  I took off the pepper and tomato though…for some reason it was tasting weird.  The rest was good though!  I also had a small slice of a small cheese pizza.  THEN we had amazing carrot cake, made by Leeann!  Too bad I was so excited and it tasted so good that my camera didn’t have a chance to take the picture.  Oops!  I was pretty proud of myself though because I wanted to eat another 5+ slices, but I didn’t.  It feels good to say ‘no’ when it’s something I know I shouldn’t eat more of but really want to!

My run/walk was great (I didn’t go as fast, but I didn’t quit either…so excited!) and I had the rest of my FREE Oikos and FREE Wholesome Foods Bakery crunch!  A match made in heaven:

Tonight we are going to take the dogs to the dog park, cook dinner together, do a little workout, and then watch my new love, Modern Family, and hopefully a movie.  I know this is a stark contrast to my post yesterday, but I’m thankful to have realized what my problem was before I let it go to far.  And thankfully today I feel great!

What was the FREE thing you got/participated in?  What were your thoughts on it? Obviously the last thing I got was free pizza, which is always a winner for me.  I didn’t LOVE all of the toppings on my first slice, but once those were off it was phenomenal!  And I think we all know what I thought about the free massage 🙂

And just to have a random question, shower or bath? I like both of them; I definitely take showers way more than baths, but I love just soaking in a warm bath when I’m cold, stressed or tired!

Oh what I would do for a free massage. 😀 Last thing I got free was the Aurorae yoga mat I received in the mail yesterday that I won on a blog. I can’t wait to use it this weekend!

And I am definitely a shower person. I actually hate baths. They aren’t relaxing to me at all because the tubs are always uncomfortable to sit in and I always feel dirtier after one. And I hate the pruney fingers and toes. Yea, I don’t like baths. LOL

Today was free pizza day at school. My wonderful principal ordered pizza for the faculty to celebrate the last day of SAT testing!!

Bath for most anytime, but nothing beats a shower and a nap after a race or particularly hard long weekend run. That shower/nap combo is what I think about during the last mile. Well, that and the celebratory lunch at ihop. 😉

I take more showers but a nice long soak in the tub is one of my favorite things! Soooo relaxing : )

I second the thought on free stuff – the free part always makes it better!

Weirdly enough I have been thinking about taking a bath and I never do that!

Oh, I hate when people leave my work or neighborhood. Even if we’re not very close I get super bummed. I think I’m unstable…

Ooh, that pizza looks delightful! I just got free Cabot cheese and LOVE it. No idea what I’ll do with so much cheese, but I’m sure I’ll find something 🙂

I LOVE baths, too, but generally only take showers… Unless I really need to relax and have the time.

That pizza looks sooooo cheesy and good. Olives on pizza are my favorite thing ever. FREE olives on pizza, actually, is even better 😉

    I’m a shower girl!

I do both, but I love a good bath. I take baths almost nightly and read while sipping my bedtime tea. If I’m reading something good, I’ve been know to stay in the tub for a long time. Sometimes I’ll sit in the bath for over an hour and half, let some cold water out, add some more hot. It’s one my nightly rituals that I love.

Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today! Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today!

As we move into goal setting for the new year, may I suggest starting with your physical health? Not to fit the bikini body mold that society normalizes, but to actually BE as healthy as possible. When everything hit the fan for me this year I dug into two things that have been integral to creating positive growth and a healthier mindset:

1️⃣ my relationship with God
2️⃣ my physical health

What that’s looked like for me on the health front: holding fast to my commitment to whole food nutrition, grace for the days when I choose otherwise, pushing myself to lift heavier in workouts, and taking up running again.

What’s happened as a result? When I push myself physically, when I choose to practice discipline to do what I know is best for my body, it makes it infinitely easier to choose that same healthy discipline in every other area of life. You want to dominate your goals? Start with your health!
Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the past few months have been nuts. I’m still over here figuring out how to eat well without sacrificing my life in the kitchen, and this is a bowl I couldn’t NOT share with y’all. The best thing is that everything is almost always on hand in my fridge, it’s packed with nutrition, and tastes AMAZING!

In the bowl:
-rice mixed with Trader Joe’s Zhoug sauce
-broiled shredded Brussels sprouts
-chickpeas
-baby arugula
-grilled chicken breast
-Romesco sauce (from Trader Joe’s but I usually make my own)
-a little tzaziki sauce

This meal has been on repeat all week, only changing the rice for riced cauliflower and omitting the chickpeas on low carb days. YUM! I find that if I have a variety of roasted veggies, grilled chicken, and a few different sauces on hand I can almost always come up with a great bowl for almost any meal!
It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday y’all! Almost 4 years ago I took a leap of faith and said yes to this job in an effort to create another stream of revenue. I had NO CLUE that it would change my life for the better in almost every way, that it would reignite my passion for health and community, that it would provide in so many beautiful ways. But it has, and I am so thankful to all of you who have trusted me and supported me along the way.

When you shop with a small business you are literally a hero in their eyes, validating and supporting and protecting them. You guys are my heroes, and I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day: 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day:

1️⃣ SMILE! Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling (even forcing it to the point of feeling weird) has actually been scientifically proven to improve mood, lower stress, and boost your immune system. I actually recommend doing it awkwardly around other people because it’ll make them smile too 😉

2️⃣ GRATITUDE! Right now, before you talk yourself out of it, say or write 3 things you’re thankful for. Big, small, or in between. In this moment I’m going to say sticky notes, my Le Creuset Dutch Oven, and the Hamilton soundtrack. BOOM!

3️⃣MOVE! Get up off your tush, right now, and move your body. Walk around your house, do some jumping jacks, lock yourself in the bathroom and do a little dance, whatever. This isn’t about looking cool, it’s about giving yourself a better day.

Things are hard, ambiguity and uncertainty isn’t fun, but we can control ONE THING: ourselves. Praying that you choose to gift yourself a little bit of happiness today!

Now, tell me below, what’s one thing you’re thankful for RIGHT NOW?
