Mash, Wart, and Yeast

Morning!  Hope y’alls Tuesday is going well!

Last night we rushed home for dinner and made Ellie Krieger’s Chicken Fingers with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce!  Why the Ellie Krieger kick recently?  Well, I happened to steal one of her older magazines from my sister (sorry Salah!) and there are a ton of recipes I want to make from there!

These were SO good!  And the honey mustard sauce tasted just like the stuff from Chick-fil-A, only better!  We also made a quick fruit salad for a side with oranges, blueberries, strawberries, and grapes.  So good and colorful!

And then off we went to Jason & Stephanie’s house for some down-home beer-making 🙂  It was quite the process, and apparently Jason & Robbie had been working on it all day yesterday!  Jason hard at working doing something:

And doing something else:

And Robbie taking down some temperatures:

While the boys were busy buzzing around the kitchen Stephanie, Stefanie, and Stefanie’s mom Arlene and I sat back with some glasses of Pinot Noir:

And there might have been a small bowl of spaghetti involved 🙂

Alright, back to the boys.  Nate was sanitizing like a madman (a cute one at that!)

And from here the pictures get really blurry.  Turns out camera’s don’t work really well in the dark…who would’ve thought?

Stefanie and I were the documenters of this momentous occasion…too bad we froze our tails off doings it!

“A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Aspen.”

WE HAVE CREATED BEER!!!

It was a great night all around.  We haven’t been able to hang out with these couples at the same time in a long time, and it was so fun to just laugh and spend time with them 🙂

By the time we got home, we had to clean up the kitchen and then hit the sack, so I didn’t end up doing 30-Day Shred.  I was planning on doing it this morning, but with the lack of sleep the past couple of nights my body was telling me to stay in bed.  I ended up doing a 25 minute yoga flow and really trying to work on my breathing.  I can feel my body getting more flexible and I’m getting better at chaturanga, so overall it was a good 25 minutes!  Breakfast was a 1 cup plain yogurt with 1.5 teaspoons of maple syrup and some of the leftover fruit salad from last night:

And some coffee in a Starbucks Switzerland mug at work!

It’s supposed to get all the way up to 47 today!  WOOHOO!  Not as warm and sunny as I’d like, but I’ll take it.  I know the first warm day of the Spring I’ll be hiking up Sanitas with Nate & the puppers!

What are YOU going to do on your first day of spring?

My husband is also a home-brewer. He actually got started brewing while working for a church…the pastor would brew beer in the church basement. Pretty awesome!

Yay for homebrewing! And thanks for the Dumb & Dumber reference–I am incapable of looking at a suitcase without thinking, “Samsonite! I was way off!”

So fun! Your fruit salad ALSO looks like a Chick-Fil-A fruit cup.

On the first day of Spring I’m going to go to a park to have a quiet time. It’s one of my most favorite things to do!

From what I’ve seen it’s awesome…and I love that it has actual NUTRIENT levels and not just calories/fat stats per recipe 🙂 I’d totally recommend it!

It was FAreezing last night. Love the brewing photos…reminds me of when Chris did it last month. It was intense to do alone your first time..although I helped a tiny bit. All the sanitizing is hilarious.
