What I Eat on a Low Carb Day with FASTer Way to Fat Loss follows exactly how I hit my macros on low carb macro days without sacrificing great taste!
If you’re anything like me, the idea of of a low carb day (50g or less net carbs) can be a little daunting. I remember the first time I went through the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program and thought that I had the low carb situation down. That is, til I calculated my net carbs at the end of the day and the number was over 50g.
The next day I tried again, only this time coming in very low. Hitting my stride and really getting a good amount of nutrition while staying low carb took a little practice, but eventually I got the hang of it. I really enjoy changing up my carb ratios, and while low carb days are just a part of the carb cycling process I found myself looking for new and delicious ways to hit the 50g net carbs.
This is, to date, my favorite series of meals for low carb day – coming in under 50g net carbs, but packed with flavor! First up, these coconut flour pancakes are amazing. I actually sub vanilla Siggi’s for the sour cream, and then top them with 1 cup of strawberries or blueberries. Delicious!
I usually drink my coffee black, but on low carb macro days I like to indulge in my bulletproof coffee loaded with collagen peptides. While there’s no fiber in this, I love it as a way to get in some good quality protein. Plus it’s a great pick-me-up after a hard workout!
I know I’ll be asked, so here are my current favorite collagen peptides, and this is the immersion blender I use to mix it up!
With the FASTer Way to Fat Loss I usually have my eating window from 12-8pm, so I usually end up having “lunch” sometime around 3pm. If you’re a parent you know that this is the beginning of what can commonly be called the witching hour (especially when you can’t go anywhere thanks to coronavirus restrictions). Which means no one has time to cook an intricate meal – but don’t fear! I love roasting a ton of veggies and chicken breasts, and my quick peanut sauce comes together very quickly, for a hearty meal.
You can find the peanut sauce recipe posted in my Instagram highlights – just click here and tap through!
Finally I’ve been ending low carb day with some roasted salmon (my foolproof method is on those story highlights again) and a hearty serving of cauliflower fried rice. Nothing fancy, and outside of using just cauliflower and a little edamame, I didn’t make any changes. Just good, flavorful food shining through!
I’ve talked a little about how I’ve found so much food freedom through this program. I’ve learned that carbs aren’t evil, and there is a way to enjoy them in a healthy way. I’ve also learned that carb cycling makes enjoying them so much more doable because they aren’t off-limits, and I can also enjoy the lean feeling of low carb days as well.
It can be done – and SHOULD be done! If you have any questions about the FASTer Way to Fat Loss please let me know (I’m an open book) or you can click here to sign up!
