This past Saturday was a big day – it was the day I finished my workout program, but it was also the first time we’ve ever gone on a family movie date with both of our kids! Truth be told I was a little nervous about this because I know just how wild my boys can get, and just how quiet movie theaters are. The two together don’t make a great combination, but I also know that they have surprised me on more than one occasion…so off we went to Movie Tavern!
The Grand Opening event was really fun! In the lobby there was a caricaturist, a balloon twister, and a fun photo booth to really welcome families and make all of the kiddos feel really welcome. My guys were so excited about the balloons!!!
Because it is the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot that is the movie that we saw. Y’all, I have to tell you that I was cackling the whole way through because my perspective as a mom of boys made me see the movie in a whole new light. I just know that my boys will be getting into trouble and having to figure it all out, and while the world is certainly a little different now than it was in the movie there’s just something so funny and innocent about the trouble boys can get into.
I really can’t talk about Movie Tavern without talking about how great the food is, mainly because that’s such a huge part of the experience. It really is a full-service one-stop-shop experience for any kind of date, and that includes going out with the family. The food selection was perfect for our boys (cheese pizza and fruit), Nate got popcorn (his favorite) and I ordered General Tso’s cauliflower. Y’all. It was SO GOOD that I am literally trying 3 new recipes for it this week just to see if I can recreate the deliciousness!
Also, if you’re anything like our family, food is a great way to keep busy when little people just want to jump and run and talk loudly. Which mine did. But only until they found out they could recline their seats…and then a new obsession was born!
The cool thing about this Grand Opening is that it kicked off the Summer Kid’s Flick series at Movie Tavern to keep kids cool and entertained during the hot summer months. Some of the titles that will be shown are Trolls, Sing, Boss Baby, and Despicable Me 3, among others. I can’t imagine a better experience than going to a movie on an incredibly hot day! I know we’ll be taking full advantage of it this summer!
Y’all, my kids were a little wild – it’s true – but they also woke up the next morning begging to go back because they loved going on a date with mom and dad so much. It really hit me that while we do a lot of things as a family, being really intentional about pursuing them and experiencing new things is a surefire way to their hearts – it really helps them to feel known and loved. I’m so thankful that I was able to do that with this amazing partnership with Movie Tavern!
Now it’s time for a giveaway! I have a $25 gift card in my hot little hands that I’ll be giving away to one of you lucky ducks so that you can go and enjoy the full Movie Tavern experience! It’s simple to enter the giveaway – just leave a comment below telling me your favorite childhood movie OR your favorite line from The Sandlot. I will pick a winner on Saturday, April 21 at 12pm CST. Love this movie and my kids watched it for the first time a few weeks ago!! Can’t believe I waited this long to share such a fun movie with them.
