Be Jealous

Morning everyone!  First off, my Sweet Potato Orza & Fruit Salad made it on Tastespotting!!!  Check it out! 🙂

Sorry, I was just SO excited about that.  I’ve submitted a lot of photos and never seemed to get one and finally today I saw it on there!  Dinner last night was fairly boring.  I made some BBQ (with Stubb’s seasoning), green beans (he loves them out of the can!), and mashed potatoes.  I just had the leftover roasted broccoli and cauliflower in a bowl the some parm and my serving of the mashed potatoes:

YUM!  The potatoes were easy and pretty healthy too!  I just took 3 tennis-ball sized Yukon golds, washed and skinned them, and diced them into 1/2 inch cubes.  Boil for about 10-15 minutes (you have to make sure you start them in cold water though), or until tested done with a fork.  Then I mashed them up with 3 triangles of herbed Laughing Cow cheese and 1/4 cup of milk.  DONE!  So easy, and they were really creamy and delicious! It’s a good thing that I made a light dinner because I decided to make Jessica’s Peanut Butter frosting for some brownies, and I might have eaten about 1/4 of it.  No, I’m not sorry, it was amazing!  She’s a miracle worker, I tell ya! 😉  Just look at these bad boys!

That, my friends, is why you should be jealous…but the good news is you can go out and make it too!  Just be careful…the whole batch has a tendency to LEAP into your mouth!

I got up this morning to do a Shiva Rea yoga workout I recorded the other day.  I was NOT a fan!  I just felt like she just lept into doing stuff without any sort of conscious warming up of the muscles, and there weren’t a lot of alternatives for poses shown.  Needless to say I won’t be doing this again until I’m a little more advanced (if at all).  OH, and last night I did a really great upper body strength workout while watching Modern Family (don’t even get me started on how much I’m now in love with this show):

  • overhead shoulder press (10 lbs, 3 sets of 15)
  • deltoid raises (10 lbs, 3 sets of 15)
  • bicep curls (15 lbs, 3 sets of 15)
  • front and lateral shoulder raises (5 lbs, 3 sets of 10 each direction)
  • overhead tricep extension (20 lbs, 3 sets of 20)
  • rear delt flys (5 lbs, 3 sets of 15)
  • PushUp Challenge Week 1 Day 2

Now my shoulders are understandably sore!  But I love it…it makes me feel like I’m actually doing something.  PLUS I will get to get my walk in today, which I’m stoked about.  Eating well and working out are so much fun when it makes you feel good!  I was in a massive rush this morning, so I didn’t take a picture of my breakfast (sorry!), but it was a Cherry Chocolate GM:  1/2 cup frozen cherries, 1 small banana, 1 cup nonfat milk, 1 packet hot chocolate mix, 2 cups spinach.  YUM!

If you had to pick ONLY ONE Food Network star to be your personal chef, who would you pick? I would totally choose either Ina Garten (she can make anything!) or Giada de Laurentiis, mainly because I love their attitudes towards food and they both know how to make a wide variety of amazing meals!  I’ve never failed with either one of their recipes 🙂

Giada reminds me of an anime character: when her mouth is closed it’s so tiny, but when she opens her mouth it’s huge!

I just wanted to share that thought.

Anyway, I would pick Mario Batali or Tyler Florence.

I freaking LOVE Modern Family, “It feels like I just ate the SUN!” Classic. Congrats on getting on that recipe site. So cool! I wonder if my penis in a blanket will make the cut.
I would be Giada, I think she’s close to perfect.

Giada!!! I feel like she is just as good a cook as Ina, but knows how to keep it a little lighter. I’d love having Ina, but I’d probably gain fifty pounds!!

    Congrats on the recipe feature!

Not to be a copy cat, but I’d probably pick Giada too. Although I’d love to have dinner with Alton Brown- he knows SO much about FOOD!!!

I’ve been meaning to try pb frosting… i heard it’s out of this world!

And I’d probably pick Giada, too. She’s all about the rich flavors, but I think she’d be good about keeping the portions under control (my horrible weakness).

Those brownies and the frosting look soooo good!! I’ve been trying to resist ever since I saw it on her blog. I have a feeling those wouldn’t last long in my house…
The mashed potatoes sound divine!! Yukon Golds make the BEST.

I would probably choose Giada too because she cooks healthy (most of the time) but still delicious! Or maybe Tyler Florence… I would just enjoy watching him cook 😉

Oh I know…I wanted to eat it all too! I choose exactly the same as you – first Ina, because she is so classy. And then Giada. Because I want to be her.
