Yesterday was a good day. It was filled with friends, laughter, music, hard work and Jesus - a winning combination if you ask me. It's not that good days are rare by any means, but one that just stands out as particularly fantastic is always appreciated, you know? One that starts with a smile from my husband, a smile from our son, 3 cups of coffee (not a result of being tired, but just because I love coffee). One that is filled with friends who love well and show me Jesus' love and ... continue reading...
Meat & Potato Pancake with Horseradish Cream
Have I mentioned lately that we've moved? Because yes - yes we have. It's been so smooth and easy, and at the same time has been a real doozy. Keeping up with a food blog and moving an entire kitchen at the same time don't really equate to success, but I've done it. Sort of. The moving part - maybe not the keeping up with the blogging part ;) Luckily I created this really easy, hearty and delicious 5-ingredient recipe in the midst of the move and it was such a lifesaver! (OH, and speaking of ... continue reading...
2 Years
This past weekend I became the mother of a 2 year old boy. As I do with every big milestone Wes has had I looked back at the time we've been blessed to have with him and tried to remember all of the things. The way his first cries sounded. The way he looked when I first saw him. The days and nights that we spent in the hospital after his delivery. The days and months that we had in our old house in Colorado. The frantic 4 weeks of finding out we were moving from Denver to Little ... continue reading...

Live Near the Cross
But as you thus take "sweet counsel" with others in the ways of God, take care that the theme of your converse is the Lord Jesus. Let the eye of faith be constantly looking unto him; let your heart be full of him; let your lips speak of his worth. Friend, live near to the cross, and thou wilt not sleep. --Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening ... continue reading...
Roasted Garlic Baba Ganouj
I know that I've been all over Instagram lately talking about the next step in our moving process, and honestly I got so caught up in the whole thing that I didn't even realize that yesterday was Monday. Take into account the most recent ice and snow storm that lead to Nate not having to go into work, and my week is completely thrown off. P.S. I had never in my life heard of 'thundersleet' until this past weekend. Kind of crazy, kind of cool, but mostly I'm ready for ... continue reading...

InstaLife
INSTALIFE POSTS ARE LIFE-BASED + PHOTOS ARE DIRECTLY FROM MY INSTAGRAM FEED. Eek! It's been a while since I've done an InstaLife post - but you know what? I was out living life, so I can't really be too sorry, right? :) I've been working on really trying to artfully capture the things that are in my life, day by day, both the super boring and mundane (HELLO 8th cup of coffee...) and the incredibly cool. Like lobster tails. Who wouldn't love a shot of lobster tails, ... continue reading...
Bourbon & Boots Love: Traveler’s Map of America
THIS BEAUTIFUL MAP WAS PROVIDED BY BOURBON & BOOTS THROUGH MY PARTNERSHIP WITH ARKANSAS WOMEN BLOGGERS. ALL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE MY OWN. Some of my favorite moments growing are centered around my family's love of travel. Every summer we would make the 3-day drive from Lubbock, TX to the Bay Area in California to see my grandparents and cousins, which also gave my parents really great opportunity to take different routes and therefore show us a new part of the country we'd never seen ... continue reading...
Kicked Up Sausage Meat Sauce
When it comes to quick family dinners we have a few staples around here that we like to stick to. First of all it's almost always some form of Italian dinner - we all know that pasta is great for stretching a dollar and is super filling - although occasionally we jump on the enchilada train as well ;) When I was growing up I remember my mom would always make a meat sauce with ground beef and jarred marinara sauce. When it was dad's turn to cook dinner we would always add chopped olives ... continue reading...
Jalapeño Popper Mac and Cheese
Just looking at this heavenly carb-tastic and cheesy goodness is making me swoon. So what if it's super early in the morning? I've never been one to shy away from eating dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner anyway. I'd gladly (OK I DID gladly) eat leftovers from this meal with an egg on top - and it's amazing! I remember my first jalapeño popper experience, and truth be told in hindsight it was pretty lackluster, but at the time I thought I had died and entered some kind of ... continue reading...
Story’s Third Day
The night before I had cried more than I ever thought possible. I passed out in the car on the way home from the hospital in Longmont, Colorado only a few minutes after I called my mom and dad at close to midnight to tell them that their first grandchild was no longer alive inside of me. Looking back I don't know how I made it through that phone call, how I found the words to actually say out loud what had happened. I remember crawling into bed that night. I felt dirty, broken, ... continue reading...
