Faces of Beauty

Dallas Through an iPhone

Check out Hilary on Faces of Beauty today!   Well hello!  Long time no blog, right?  I have to say I had the best of intentions in blogging this weekend, but every time we go to Dallas it's a whirlwind of travel, visiting, and trying to fit in our old favorite restaurants.  Turns out blogging didn't happen, and neither did taking photos - well, except at the wedding (coming soon) and on my iPhone! So here's the rundown:  we left from ... continue reading...

Is This Right?

This picture is a prime example of why you should get a photo booth at your wedding or next party.   Just think about the possibilities...wigs, props, and alcohol OH MY!         ... continue reading...

Steak & Potatoes

Gena is on Faces of Beauty with a simple and beautiful message :)   Y'all, our lives have been going a mile a minute.  Last weekend we were in Oklahoma, this weekend we're in Dallas.  I have hardly cooked a full meal at home in the past few weeks.   It kind of makes my heart hurt.   So this Texas girl who's actually in Texas right now made something I know will always make the world right again:  steak and potatoes. Well, fancy shmancy steak and potatoes anyway.   You see, ... continue reading...

Arnie in Motion

Susan is on Faces of Beauty today!  Come say hi :)   It's not that I'm out of recipes.   No sirree. I just feel that it's imperative that y'all know as much about me as possible.  You know, so you can sense my inspiration and whatnot. And if this little troll-haired crazy mutt doesn't inspire you then I just don't know what will. This is Arnie, my parent's dog (p.s. I consider him mine, but for reference purposes we'll call him my parents' dog).  He's a lean, mean, 20 lbs of terrier ... continue reading...

Tasty Kitchen Fail

Come say hi to Mary on Faces of Beauty today!   It was bound to happen at some point.  The dreaded flat cookie problem that plagues oh-so-many people here at high altitude.  Granted, the flavor was perfection...the texture?  Not so much.   I'm just glad I'm not alone...   And to be fair this has happened before when we first moved here, but I thought I'd beat it during our first year.  Time to man up and battle the high-altitude baking monster again! This recipe, the one that I'm ... continue reading...

Lace

This is not my dress.   But my dress had lace too.  It's funny, I never considered myself a "lace-y" kind of gal.   I've since changed my mind :) ... continue reading...

Chipotle Goat Cheese Corn Muffins

Beautiful Allie is on Faces of Beauty today! Come say hi!   Confession:  to my knowledge I've never made cornbread from scratch before. (GASP!)  I know my mom did, but I only jumped in when a Jiffy mix was involved, and you know what?  I'm OK with that.   Whew!  I feel better now getting that off my chest!   I do aspire to one day make homemade cornbread - perhaps this recipe - but when it came time to make something to go alongside my split pea soup all I had was a Jiffy mix.  ... continue reading...

Crockpot Split Pea Soup

Come say hi to Betsy on Faces of Beauty today!   Let's talk split pea soup.  I never had it growing up; I don't know why.  Looking at the color of it makes me understand that a little more.   It's baby-poop green (that is if baby poop is green.  I imagine if it were that this color is what it would be). It's thick and sometimes chunky.  It has a distinctive earthy flavor from the peas.  I think the above picture summarizes my previous emotions in relation to split pea soup.   But ... continue reading...

Oklahoma

Hey y'all :) We are back home in Denver after spending about 4 days in Oklahoma with my family to celebrate my Papa's life.  I had a long post planned out with a lot of writing and insight, but to be honest I think it would be more fun for all of us if I left myself out of this as much as possible and allowed y'all to just check out the photos :) This is me, my grandma, and my sister.  Grandma is one of the funniest, spunkiest people I've ever met, and I love her. This is just a fraction of ... continue reading...
