Growing up we always used cumin in chili and in all things Tex-Mex, so you can only imagine my surprise when I tried something simple like roasted carrots and tasted that old familiar flavor in a brand new way. Turns out the cumin is an amazing spice to have on hand, and goes so perfectly with so many different foods! Obviously Tex-Mex or Mexican food has a good amount of this amazingly aromatic spice to it. It's known for it's smokey flavor and smell, and adds a good amount of ... continue reading...
March Favorites
Favorites day! Everything here is completely unsponsored; these are just things I've been loving and want to share with y'all! Enjoy! Versailles. OK, so you should know that in February Nate and I watched all 7 existing seasons of Game of Thrones. We loved loved loved it, and so when the season 7 finale was over I went into this tailspin of trying to find a show that I could enjoy just as much as GOT. Spoiler alert: I haven't found one. But I did get myself hooked on Versailles, ... continue reading...

Y'all, I won't lie to you - the past couple of days I've been struggling. Just with being happy with life in general, trying not to compare, failing at parenting, body image issues, the works. It's a passing thing (it's also a special time of month...sorry to my guy readers) and I know that a little sunshine and time outside will do a lot to help. As will cleaning up my diet even more and then purging my house. But you know what? I don't always think it's a bad thing to just sit in ... continue reading...

Ingredient Spotlight: Smoked Paprika
It has come to my attention recently that I am, in fact, getting old. Now trust me, I don't mind this - what a better indicator of life than aging, right? - but the fact is that I now have the privilege of helping lead a group of newly married couples with my husband and I noticed that I am actually a full decade older than most of these beautiful women. A DECADE. I just can't fathom it. However, that decade does have something to show for it: my ability to cook has ... continue reading...

Y'allllllllll. Spring Break has come and gone and I feel like I'm lost in a parallel universe where everything looks the same but NOTHING IS THE SAME. I'm living in my house, with my kids, but none of the things are getting done. I've stayed up late every night just trying to stay afloat, and meanwhile telling Nate that come summer I need to be up at 4:30am to make sure that my businesses keep rocking all summer long while I spend all day with my boys. I can't wait to have them around all the ... continue reading...
Chili Garlic Cauliflower Risotto Bowls from Nourishing Superfood Bowls
Almost 9 years ago I started a food-based blog, originally to showcase eateries around the Denver area until I realized that I would have to spend money at said places in order to have content in the first place. It quickly grew into a healthy living blog, basically an online food and fitness diary and the beginning of an incredible blogging community that I fell in love with. A few short months later my path crossed with a girl named Lindsay Cotter, who was (and still is) this incredibly kind ... continue reading...
Quick Strawberry Lemonade Rice Pudding Parfait
In spite of the fact that it’s still winter and has, for the past week, been raining nonstop, I just can’t get the excitement about summer out of my mind. Oddly enough, I already know I’ll complain about the incessant heat come June, but I’m looking forward to it all the same. One of my favorite parts of summer is the chance to do incredibly low-key entertaining. Throwing everything on the grill, and then finishing with a nice cool dessert is just so simple and hardly an inconvenience because ... continue reading...

HALLELUJAH Y'ALL. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, trees are blooming, allergies are activated, and it feels like winter is finally starting to come to a close. I'm loving it, although admittedly I'm in that mood I get in every spring where I hate our house and just want to burn the whole thing down and start over. Sound a bit dramatic? It's completely because I just look at all the dust and ick that's developed over the past 5 months of being inside more and I just don't want to ... continue reading...

Keeping the Clean Beauty Routine on the Road
One of the biggest hurdles I have in every area of life is travel - I love love LOVE it, but staying on track with things like clean eating and clean beauty have always been hard for me when we are staying anywhere outside of our house. This past weekend we were in Dallas visiting family and celebrating our older son's 6th birthday (I'm still in denial), and so while I failed BIG TIME in the area of eating clean, I did make sure to keep up with a super simple clean beauty routine. So a half win? ... continue reading...
Naturally Sweetened Honey Lemon Simple Syrup
This post is sponsored by Thyme & Table. All opinions are my own. Guys, it's almost sun tea season!!! I realize that seems a little...silly?...perhaps, but I always know it's my favorite time of year when the sun is out long enough to make sun tea on the back porch while I cook dinner. There are so many sweet memories of my mom placing the sun tea pitcher out, the decorations on the outside fading, but the tea inside warming to that dark honey shade that meant it was just ... continue reading...
