Garlic Israeli Couscous

Anything that starts off with a photo of garlic and red pepper flakes frying...well, let's just say there's no chance it could be bad.   Let's be honest - garlic is the best.  Always and forever.  Amen. The way I see it garlic is the glue that holds all food together.  I mean, I love me some sugar, butter and bacon...but as far as I'm concerned food without garlic is hardly food.   You know, besides baked goods.  Whatevs.   Anyway, I loooooooooove Israeli ... continue reading...

Happy Mother’s Day!

As you guys know, this is my first Mother's Day and I am so blessed.  Not only do I have a sweet little boy with the love of my life: But I have the best mother in the ENTIRE world!  The woman who raised me to love the Lord, to treat others the way I want to be treated, who taught me to cook, laugh, and push myself to reach my full potential.  The woman who was patient with me even when I sent my sister to the hospital doing something stupid (even though it's actually funny now) and who ... continue reading...

Toasted Ranch Chickpeas

It's cold here.  Cloudy.  Probably going to rain a little later on.   And you know what that means?  Movie night!  I've never been the biggest popcorn fan, although Nate LOVES it, so I'm going to celebrate by whipping up a big fat batch of toasted ranch chickpeas. Oh, what's that?  You want some too?  Well hop on over to ChefMom and check out the recipe!  Promise you won't be disappointed...unless you don't make them.  Then you will be fo sho! ... continue reading...

Week 9: Hands, Shots and Birthdays!

This little boy steals my heart about 50 times a day: He's officially over 2 months old now, and/or 9 weeks, and was quite the little trooper at his doctor's appointment earlier this week.  Wes is now over 2 feet long and weighed in at a little over 12.5 lbs!  He's obviously growing since he's quickly OUTgrowing many of his 3-month onsies, but it's always nice to know that he's gaining weight by seeing the actual number.  I just can't believe he's grown 5 lbs in a matter of 8 weeks!  I mean ... continue reading...

Cinnamon Sugar Apple Pie Eggrolls

Is anyone else still holding on to apple season for dear life?  I mean really, apples tend to be more of a fall thing but I just can't get enough of them right now.  And when I say that I think it's fair to disclose that I can't get enough cinnamon and sugar either. The thing that I've also become recently super obsessed with is eggroll wrappers.  Those suckers work great for everything and automatically make it suuuuuuuuuuuper fancy.  Ham & cheese sandwich?  Stuff that in an eggroll and ... continue reading...

Body After Baby: Part 2

So wow.  First of all let me just say that I am SORE and so completely happy with it!  I have always been one of those people who enjoys being sore to some degree.  Not in an unhealthy way, I think it's just a good sign that I actually got my butt into gear and made it happen.  I remember back in the day I always dreaded and loved volleyball two-a-days; no matter how much I worked out in the summer beforehand I would always come out dead tired and happy about it in the end!   P.S. I ... continue reading...

Blog Love: Brown Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies

OK.  So.  We've discussed for almost 3 years now how my husband is the world's biggest cookie monster when it comes to chocolate chip cookies.  Thing is I like chocolate chip cookies and all...they're good and sometimes there's just nothing like a warm chocolate chip cookie from the oven.  BUT I have never really just craved them before.   Til now.   Now the time has come for me to finally meet my cookie match.  And I blame it all on the brown butter.   HOLY ... continue reading...

Strawberries & Cream Popsicles

I have a confession:  I LOVE POPSICLES.  But only the red kind because red flavor is always the best.  Who's with me on this?!   I mean think about it:  gummy bears, Sour Patch Kids, sorbet, childrens' multi-vitamins (or adult gummy multi-vitamins - which I'm not allowed to have), Kool-Aid.  The list goes on, and I think it's fair to assume that most people would say that "red" is the best flavor.  Because it is. But what does "red" actually taste like?  I always figured it was ... continue reading...

Blend 2012

This past weekend I did something I haven't done in almost 2 months - I put on some big girl clothes and hung out with a bunch of women my age by myself.  WHOA now.  Get excited!   Seriously though, I hung out with the indescribably awesome group of bloggers at the Blend Retreat in Boulder and had the best time.  I've always said one of the things I love most about blogging is the community of people that come together to love and support one another.  People that I never would have ... continue reading...

Arugula Pesto Farro Salad

Let's talk farro.  It's only my favorite grain ever:  chewier than rice, heartier than quinoa, and perfect with any and every flavor you can possibly imagine.  If it weren't so expensive I would probably have it every single day (note to CostCo:  please carry more farro.  Please). Something I love almost as much as farro, though, is pesto salads.  I like that they are simple with BOLD flavor, go with almost every meal, are highly customizable and don't require refrigeration (as long as ... continue reading...

Family-Friendly Margaritas

So.  Last night at the Blend Retreat I had a glass of wine since I knew that Nate would be feeding Wes and there would be plenty of time for the alcohol to cycle out of my milk before the next feeding.  And you know what?  It was GLORIOUS!!!   BUT.   I'm still a little nervous about drinking alcohol, so I made a rockin' recipe that's both kid (and breastfeeding/preggo mom)- and adult-friendly, and tastes nothing short of awesome.  Check out my post on ChefMom for the ... continue reading...
