The Huckleberry

One of the things I love most about holidays and vacations is the ability to go eat breakfast at fun, local, CUTE places around town.  Since Nate and I were lucky enough to have the day off yesterday we decided to try out The Huckleberry in downtown Louisville, a cute little bakery and shop that I had seen many times but never been in.

Why oh why have I not been here before?!  Anywhere that has this sign plastered on the exterior of their building should be a shoo-in.  $3 dessert happy hour?  Yes PLEASE!

Sigh.  I miss Hawaii….

Playin’ cute 😉

The Huckleberry boasts a really great breakfast and lunch menu, along with their little bakery and tea bar.  The reason we ended up choosing this place to eat is because Nate was craving French toast and knew that they could deliver.  However, I went with the Italian Scramlette (eggs with Italian sausage, fresh basil, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella) that was served with home fries (a little overdone in some parts) and a biscuit.

And here’s the reason we went in the first place.

And yes, it was worth it.

It’s just the cutest little getaway in the middle of a great downtown area.  I loved the mix of rough wood with welded metal.

And teapots galore!

The only thing I’m wondering is why I didn’t get any of this with my meal?  Oh, what’s that?  Because I was still stuffed to the gills from dinner on Thanksgiving?

Details, details.

I think the same thing everytime I leave a restaurant with desserts right at the front. They look sooo appetizing you almost want to go back for more.

I would love to find a little place like that for breakfast close to where we live. The closest I have found is Dutch Monkey Doughnuts. Not quite a solid breakfast…but certainly delicious! They even have maple bacon doughnuts regularly. I know you (and Jessica) would love that.

What a cute place! I used to go to a breakfast place like that in Plymouth, MA and it was so charming and had the best homefries.

Did you get any tea? Next time you go try their Blue Moon black tea. It’s out of this world. If you like Mate, try Mate Latte! Yum. I’m glad you liked it. Let’s make it a double date next time.
