To the men and women who are serving our country, with the face of death and danger waiting around any turn, thank you.
To the men and women who selflessly live without the ones they love, a side effect of the protection of freedom, thank you.
To the children who are living without their mom or dad, who have a first-hand example of selfless love, courage, and bravery. Thank you.
To the moms and dads who bravely let go of their child’s hand and trusted that they were doing the right thing, thank you.
To the families who miss their loved ones every day, who wonder if they’ll ever come home, who put on a brave face when their hearts are breaking. Thank you.
Today is so much more than an extra day off work, and I pray that we never take the weight of its importance for granted. Celebrate, definitely, with the ones you love – but never forget that today’s celebration comes at the cost of the lives of men and women who selflessly fought to protect the freedoms we so love. And never forget to be thankful.
Much love,
Heather

Well said! I always wish I had been able to take Dad to the WWII memorial in DC.
