BLAH. I am NOT feeling well at all today…in fact, I feel like I’m in a constant state of needing to throw up…sounds fun right?

Yesterday’s breakfast was on the fly:

Plain nonfat yogurt, a banana, and a crumbled Mama Pea KIND bar!  So yummy and so quick 🙂  Too bad I felt gross all morning and couldn’t enjoy the fact that I had a yummy breakfast.  However, I got an email from a co-worker about some Southern-Style Bread Pudding with a Rum Glaze.  Really, who would turn that down?

I told her that I was born again in that bread pudding…and I meant it!  Again, though, I felt totally sick and couldn’t eat anything afterwards.  Being sick is not fun, not even a little bit.  On my lunch break, rather than walking, I decided to take a nap in my car.  I slept for about 45 minutes, then grabbed a Lean Cuisine at Target because I felt better after sleeping!

About halfway through I got sick AGAIN.  It’s been rough going since then too…I’m super hungry, but all food sounds disgusting and I can’t be too far from a bathroom (sorry if that’s TMI), and I am still in a constant state of nausea.  So BLECH to that!

Anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be?  Or anything that might make me feel better? I’m afraid to eat because it only makes me sick and everything sounds disgusting – that is not OK!  I love great food too much to be turned off by it!

Also, I’m working on a total blog redesign…and I want and need your feedback!  If you could let me know what colors you associate with Heather’s Dish, what other topics you might want to read about, and even what blogs you really love to read (you can include your own!), that would be extremely helpful.  Please feel free to either leave a comment OR email me!  Thanks guys 🙂

Oh no!! Hope you’re feeling better by now–the BRAT diet and ginger-ale are both great suggestions. Ginger is supposed to be a natural anti-nausea treatment. If regular ginger-ale is too sweet for you, try the diet, or anything with ginger in it might help.

Sorry you’re not feeling well. Stomach aches are so frustating, but I find any kind of soup broth, fizzy sodas left to go a bit flat, toast, and rice to all be soothing. Plus plenty of fluids to keep from getting dehydrated. Feel better!

I hope you feel better!!!! Being sick is no fun…..I usually drink sparkling water with a hint of lemon b/c ginger ale and sprite have too much sugar for me so it irritates my tummy more, but plain toast and bananas always helps as well 🙂

Bummer that you’re not feeling well. I agree with Sarah on sticking to the BRAT diet. Toast always settles my stomach when I feel sick. Peppermint tea can help too. I always think of warm colors when I think of your blog. Yellow, orange, bright pink, lime green – fun colors!

Aww, feel better!! I like eating plain crackers or rice cakes when my stomach is upset. I find it curbs my hunger without hurting my stomach more. Ginger is also supposed to help with an upset stomach so I always drink flat ginger ale.

Sounds like you’re either pregnant (?) or you’ve got some inflammation in your digestive tract. That happens to me occasionally for no particular reason (the inflammation, not the pregnancy lol).

Stick to the BRAT diet for a day or two until all settles down. That’s bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Those are all really easy to digest and will give your tummy a chance to fix itself.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Awww, I hope you get over whatever is ailing you soon!!I’m no doctor, but it sounds like you have a bad stomach virus. I came down with a stomach virus last year and the only thing I could keep down and that actually settled my stomach a bit was a fountain soda (Coke). I could not keep the ginger ale down, in fact, it made me feel worse. Hope this helps. As for a color scheme you have a very cheery attitude in your writing so I’d like to see that for your blog, such as pink, yellow, maybe light purple too (just like a big bouquet of Gerbera Daisies). IMO, I see no need to overhaul your topics, I love your blog writing just the way it is.

Aww goodness that sounds awful! Listen to your body, give yourself a break and try to drink some ginger ale?

As for your blog redesign, I love the happy colours that you have been using: the orange, yellow, red, etc! These colours really bring across your ‘enjoy’ message too 🙂

    Feel better!

Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today! Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today!

As we move into goal setting for the new year, may I suggest starting with your physical health? Not to fit the bikini body mold that society normalizes, but to actually BE as healthy as possible. When everything hit the fan for me this year I dug into two things that have been integral to creating positive growth and a healthier mindset:

1️⃣ my relationship with God
2️⃣ my physical health

What that’s looked like for me on the health front: holding fast to my commitment to whole food nutrition, grace for the days when I choose otherwise, pushing myself to lift heavier in workouts, and taking up running again.

What’s happened as a result? When I push myself physically, when I choose to practice discipline to do what I know is best for my body, it makes it infinitely easier to choose that same healthy discipline in every other area of life. You want to dominate your goals? Start with your health!
Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the past few months have been nuts. I’m still over here figuring out how to eat well without sacrificing my life in the kitchen, and this is a bowl I couldn’t NOT share with y’all. The best thing is that everything is almost always on hand in my fridge, it’s packed with nutrition, and tastes AMAZING!

In the bowl:
-rice mixed with Trader Joe’s Zhoug sauce
-broiled shredded Brussels sprouts
-chickpeas
-baby arugula
-grilled chicken breast
-Romesco sauce (from Trader Joe’s but I usually make my own)
-a little tzaziki sauce

This meal has been on repeat all week, only changing the rice for riced cauliflower and omitting the chickpeas on low carb days. YUM! I find that if I have a variety of roasted veggies, grilled chicken, and a few different sauces on hand I can almost always come up with a great bowl for almost any meal!
It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday y’all! Almost 4 years ago I took a leap of faith and said yes to this job in an effort to create another stream of revenue. I had NO CLUE that it would change my life for the better in almost every way, that it would reignite my passion for health and community, that it would provide in so many beautiful ways. But it has, and I am so thankful to all of you who have trusted me and supported me along the way.

When you shop with a small business you are literally a hero in their eyes, validating and supporting and protecting them. You guys are my heroes, and I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day: 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day:

1️⃣ SMILE! Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling (even forcing it to the point of feeling weird) has actually been scientifically proven to improve mood, lower stress, and boost your immune system. I actually recommend doing it awkwardly around other people because it’ll make them smile too 😉

2️⃣ GRATITUDE! Right now, before you talk yourself out of it, say or write 3 things you’re thankful for. Big, small, or in between. In this moment I’m going to say sticky notes, my Le Creuset Dutch Oven, and the Hamilton soundtrack. BOOM!

3️⃣MOVE! Get up off your tush, right now, and move your body. Walk around your house, do some jumping jacks, lock yourself in the bathroom and do a little dance, whatever. This isn’t about looking cool, it’s about giving yourself a better day.

Things are hard, ambiguity and uncertainty isn’t fun, but we can control ONE THING: ourselves. Praying that you choose to gift yourself a little bit of happiness today!

Now, tell me below, what’s one thing you’re thankful for RIGHT NOW?
