Kona

Right out of college I went to work for Starbucks in their management training program, and ever since have had a slight obsession with all things coffee.  I would even venture to say that I’m a coffee snob, except that if I need caffeine I’m willing to drink gas station and McDonald’s coffee too.

But when I want the good stuff, I turn to this:

100% Kona coffee.  Is Starbucks’ the best?  Nope – for that you need to try Badass Coffee out of Hawaii.  But for now I’ll sit back with my steaming mug of Starbucks Kona and listen for the waves…

This morning at 7:05AM CST my sweet, amazing grandfather passed away.  I don’t know if it’s totally hit me yet, but I do know that since my 27th birthday in September that this has been one crazy year with my paternal grandfather passing away in October, miscarrying less than a month ago, and now my maternal grandfather passing away.  I’m so thankful to have such an amazing and loving family, a heritage that has been passed down by both sets of truly loving and Godly grandparents.

Grandpa, you are so loved and are already severely missed.  I wish I could have been there to give you one last hug and kiss, to tell you how much you mean to me, and how much you and Mimi have influenced generations of couples to love one another.  You were and still are a great man – and I can rest knowing that you are in heaven with your beautiful wife and your first great-grandchild.  I love you Grandpa.

You’ve had a hard year, girl. Not sure if you listen to Natalie Grant, but her song “Held” would be good for you right now. And I call my grandparents Mimi and Grandpa, too 🙂 I know what you mean about Kona- I am not a coffee drinker myself, but everyone who came to visit us in HI left with a suitcase-ful!

So sorry for your loss. I was a huge grandpa’s girl, so I understand your pain and am keeping you in my thoughts/prayers.

My hubs was a Starbucks assistant manager, so I agree Kona is good stuff. 🙂

I’m so sorry for your loss. I too take comfort in knowing my lost little one is up there with my grandparents. I know that baby will not touch the ground; it’s being held non-stop. 🙂

The best coffee I have tried is from Colombia (yes, south america). My sister taught overseas there for 6 years. When I visited I was not a coffee drinker at all…when I left, I was a junkie.

You have had one tough year sweet child of God. You are very fortunate to have the family and the love that has been passed down. Take comfort in your cup of java, listen to the sounds of nature and get lost in your thoughts. Sometimes we need to take time to be still and listen to God. He has great things for all of us who keep our hearts open. I am encouraged by you…thank you.
