Kauai: Day 5 – Joe’s on the Green

Sigh.

It makes me sad to remember the last day on Kauai.  We had such a great time and the last day, although fun, but was full of dread about coming back to work.  Not that work is all that bad, but when you’re on Kauai and NOT at work?

Let’s just say that trumps work any day.

We started our day off by dropping off Skip & Liz at the airport (sniff) and made our way back to Poipu for breakfast and some shopping.  After almost a week of driving by Joe’s on the Green at the Kiahuna Golf Club it seemed like a great idea to stop in for breakfast.  Plus we’d heard great reviews about it, so why not try?

I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed with it unfortunately.  But it still trumps being at work on a cold, snowy day 🙂

The atmosphere was great and the weather could not have been more perfect; however, the first time I got my water it was in a dirty glass with bugs in it.  Second time I got my water it was in a clean glass with bugs in it.  The waitress and bus boy were curt, fairly rude, and seemed completely distracted the whole time although the restaurant wasn’t busy.

Thank goodness the weather was nice!

I had biscuits and gravy with eggs and Nate enjoyed banana-macadamia nut pancakes, which I have to say were amazing.  It was like grilled banana bread with extra banana and nuts all over it, served with both coconut and maple syrup.

Tropical paradise heaven on a plate!

At the end of our meal I was ready to write the place off completely, but I will say that I was impressed that Joe himself came over to see how everything was.  He was friendly and gracious and kind, which I appreciated.  So I think that if I go back (God willing) I’ll give them a second chance.

Hey, at least the weather was perfection 😉

Hopefully your transition back to the real world was not too awful. It is soooo hard to leave vacations sometimes- this breakfast looks like it was delish!

Bad service quickly causes a restaurant experience to go South….but the food looks pretty tasty 😉

I always give myself a buffer day between vacation and work. knowing I have to go back the next day makes me all sorts of depressed so I just tag a day on the end where I can mope around the house and do laundry.
