Hey guys! Hope your Tuesday’s been a good one 🙂 Thanks so much for all of your uplifting comments about what you want to see more of on the blog…you really know how to make a girl smile! I’ll just keep doin’ what I’m doin’ 🙂
Lunch today was another Hot Chile Grilled Cheese made in the toaster oven, and a super juicy tangelo!
This was such a great lunch…I really can’t get over how awesome this sandwich is! I think I said it before, but it’s basically a deconstructed chile relleno, and it’s face-rocking good! You should go make it now 🙂 Tonight we’re going to our community group, and I’m taking a FREE SALAD that I got from lunch just in case there’s nothing meat-free being eaten. I bet there’ll be something good, but I’m gonna take it just in case! I made a little somethin’ last night that I’ll be sharing later, but it’s a secret still 😉
SO, on to the reason for the title of this post. Please observe the item wrapped around the waist here:
This picture is NOT so that everyone can check this guy out. I was on my walk today and kept having to remind myself to pull my abdominal muscles in, and started to get pretty frustrated with myself. Now, I know these bands are mainly marketed as “slimming you down” by sweating out all the water in your stomach (really guys? really?), but I was thinking about hitting up Walmart for one for the sole purpose of wearing it as a reminder to keep my core strong and firm. I don’t want to wear it to lose weight or anything, but mainly as a way to strengthen my core.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it would be a better idea to just get over it and constantly remind myself? What fitness products have you tried? Which ones have worked? Which ones haven’t? Confession: I’ve actually owned one of these bad boys before, and although it didn’t make me “lose weight” in just my stomach, I do feel that it helped me to remember to pull my core in during a workout!

I don’t know about those waist band things but I’ve heard good things about p90x to shape up your abdominals.. I’ve seen a couple friends’ before & after pictures and it looks pretty promising
(I’ve downloaded p90x.. just haven’t gotten around to trying it out yet!)

One way I try to engage my core is by using a stability ball instead of a chair when I am working at my desk. It forces you to have good posture and keep the abs tight or else you will fall off! 🙂

Hmmm, I don’t think it would work to lose any weight but I think it could be really helpful. Especially to maintain good posture, something I’m always trying to be more mindful of!

I’m all about random products that seem wacky…I live for a good infomercial. So yeah, I’d say go for it 🙂 …as long as your expectations aren’t too high 🙂

I am terrible at keeping my core muscles tight in non-exercise situation. Like sitting at my desk or walking from place to place. I need a constant reminder.

I always try to remind myself to keep my abs in tight during class when I’m just sitting in a chair and slouching instead of sitting up straight

I don’t know when I started keeping my abs tight during my normal day to day…really, no clue. But sometimes I realize I’m doing it and release and I’m like “weeeeeird!!!!” If that makes sense..haha..not sure what to tell you about the band? Maybe it would help train your muscles? I have heard sitting on an exercise ball at your desk is really good practice….but that could be weird in an office setting 😉

Hmmm, definitely wouldn’t work to lose weight, but I could see how it could remind you to keep your abs pulled in.

I also say go for it! If it makes you feel good and reminds you to hold in your core then why not? I can remember my mom buying these shorts that make you sweat when you exercise and laughing at how ridiculous they looked!

if youve had it before and it serves that purpose I say go for it. i never remember to keep the core in so its kinda hard to just start remembering. are they uncomfortable? i feel like its sort of like a corset?
