Creamy Peanut Butter Milkshake

The White Pig rocked the milkshakes like no one else.  Believe you me, best milkshake ever.

The White Pig?  Who ever heard of such a name?  People who grew up in Lubbock and were lucky enough to have been around the East side of town, that’s who.  I remember the first time my dad took us there – y’all, this was a place that would have had the reigning spot on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  Mostly in the Drive-In-turned-Dive part, but you know what?  When the food is great you just don’t care.

We got burgers, fries, cups of water (hydration is key, people) and at the end of the meal my dad got us all peanut butter milkshake.  I have to admit, I was a little more than freaked out.  Peanut butter & Jelly?  Yes please.  Celery and peanut butter (a combo I despise now)?  No problemo.  Apples dipped in peanut butter?  YES!  But a peanut butter milkshake was almost too much to handle.

And then I tried it.

The heavens opened, angels sang, and the world stood still for that moment.  I was hooked.  No other milkshake has compared since.  Until now.

CREAMY PEANUT BUTTER MILKSHAKE (serves 1-3 people – you get to decide that number ;))

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream (I highly recommend Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, but just use your favorite)
  • 3/4 cup milk, plus more as needed
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • chocolate syrup for the inside of the glass, optional

In a blender combine the ice cream, milk, and peanut butter.  If the consistency is too thick for your liking, add a touch more milk.  Drizzle the syrup inside of the glass you’re using and then pour in the shake.  Drink with a straw or devour straight out the glass!

Granted the experience of the White Pig with it’s crumbling A-frame roof, picnic tables, and loud traffic from the university – that experience will not likely be in your kitchen.  But that doesn’t mean the world won’t stop!

This sounds delicious! Can’t wait to try it. I think it would be great with yogurt for a healthy smoothie!

I was talking about the white pig the other day but couldn’t remember what the name of the place was lol….so it ended up being called the “peanut butter milkshake place my dad took my family to” 🙂

Fun! My son just made this today for his friend but also added Reese’s PB cups! Yum. We have glass mugs like that too and I keep them on the door of my freezer for when I want a really cold mug of root beer. My Auntie from Borger Texas taught me that one!

Heaven in a mug. Yup. I would die a 1,000 deaths for that milkshake. Kidding. (Or not).

I’ve had an all-out addiction to peanut butter frozen yogurt this summer. Clearly, this milkshake needs to be in my life. Love the chocolate drizzle trick!

I’m particular about my milkshakes…but this looks off the hook. The syrup swirl is absolutely mandatory.

I’ve never had a pb milkshake before. I did have a pb and jelly smoothie once that was disgusting but considering this has a whole pint of ice cream, I think I could get onboard.

My dad always ordered peanut butter milkshakes when we went out for ice cream, and I often brought him one to the firehouse when he was working 24 hour shifts, so I’m all over this recipe! Can’t wait to try it!
