Balloon Festival

Good morning!  Can y’all believe it’s Monday again?  I thought Friday just ended and I was on my way home for a margarita…?  Oh, how the time flies!

Yesterday was a busy but really fun day!  We started off with our photo project for the weekend…the Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival! Since I’m trying to get more involved in our photography business, it was high time I sat down for a more formal editing training session with Nate.  These are the result of that session!

The crazy thing is that we woke up at 5am to get there on time!  We were pretty exhausted, and after church we came home and crashed for a couple hours.  Lunch was a chocolate/peanut butter green monster (I promise I’m coming up with more recipes, but don’t fix it if ain’t broke!)

And I had a quesadilla that was one flour tortilla with Earth Balance (~1 tsp), 2 Tbsp cheese, and 2 oz. of grilled chicken:

Dinner last night was at our pastor’s house…we had pizza (1 slice pepperoni, 1 slice sausage, salad with light Caesar dressing, and a cupcake :))

It was great to spend time with close friends and enjoy food together!  That, plus talking to my parents earlier in the day, really made me realize just how blessed I truly am.  It’s easy to get bogged down in fat talk and feeling sorry for myself, but there’s nothing like the love of family and friends to really bring me back again!

Have you ever been to a hot air balloon festival?  Even better, have you ever been IN a hot air balloon before?  What about bungee jumping, skydiving, base jumping, or anything else where you’re at a crazy height and could totally die? I’ve never done any of those things, nor do I plan to!  I wouldn’t say I’m afraid of heights, but they certainly don’t make me comfortable (that is unless I’m standing on a huge mountain I just climbed and have solid footing…)!

Ive never been in a hot air balloon before, but there used to be one that went over my parents house every day in the summer around 5 or 6:00. My moms dog was terrified of the thing and refused to come outside past 5:00. She would just sit in the doorway and cry.

I’ve always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon, hopefully before my next birthday. I can cross that off my list of things in 2010. Pictures are very nice that you took.

I am obsessed with hot air balloons! I went on a hot air balloon ride with my Dad in Australia when I was studying abroad. It was amazing! And yes to skydiving too. Also in Australia 🙂 I highly recommend it!
Also, your photos are phenonmal. I can’t stop staring at them!

I’ve never been in a hot air balloon before. Even though I think they’re pretty to look at… I’ve always been a little afraid of them.

Hi Heather! I’m a new reader, and just thought I’d let you know that I love your blog! Your pics are gorgeous…they make me want to learn more about photography.

Anyways, I had a brief ride in a hot air balloon when I was little (I grew up in CO Springs, and I got to go up in one at their annual balloon festival over Labor Day…it was LOUD! lol). And I’ve been bungee jumping in Nepal. It was the single most terrifying and exhilarating thing I’ve ever done, but I don’t think I’d ever do it again. It goes against every natural impulse in your body. I do want to go skydiving at some point in the future though…I have heard that it’s not as scary as bungee jumping from people who have done both! I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkee that way. 🙂
