Let’s start off with something awesome! Check out this post by Katy about International Women’s Day…I was having an iffy Monday morning til I read this! Now I just want to give myself a pat on the back and move to Italy 🙂
Yesterday was another great day for the most part! After church we hit up Baker Street Pub for their lunch special! I was pretty excited about getting a great deal on lunch. I ordered the soup and salad combo and got the Baked Potato Soup (which I had to pick the bacon out of…):
Overall it was a great deal…I got those for $4, but I was supremely jealous of the Spicy Guacamole Burger Nate got:
Sigh. I really can’t wait til I can eat meat again! I definitely think that giving it up for Lent is opening me up to a huge world of other food options, but there are days where it would be THAT.MUCH.EASIER to just order a burger and be done with it!
When we got home from lunch we started to clean the hot tub, but got distracted and ended up taking a nap for a while instead. Oops! That made our Sunday FLY by, and before we knew it the sun was setting! We finished up the hot tub and hit up Home Depot for some stuff to fix our bathtub. The handle to turn the cold water on was broken, and it seemed like an easy fix, so we opted for the cheaper DIY method. And since we were in the area, we ended up eating way too much cheese pizza at CiCi’s. Sorry, no pictures because I didn’t think we were going to go eat, so I didn’t even have a camera with me! The thing is, I ended up making myself sick on about 6 small slices of cheese pizza, which is something I never thought would happen. I think my body is changing for the better and starting to reject unhealthy food. So, while I was doubled over in pain from eating too much, I kept that in mind.
When I got home I was cleaning up the kitchen and Nate was working on the bathtub when all of a sudden I heard water rushing and him saying, “Uh-oh, that’s not good!” Basically there was a straight stream of water shooting out of the place where the handle was! We didn’t know where the shut-off valve was, so we opened up the crawl space and started looking. Then I ran upstairs to see how much time we had before the tub overflowed (the drain couldn’t drain fast enough for the amount of water that was filling it up) and started scooping water into the toilet and the sink to keep the water level down. It was pretty close there for about 20 minutes which is when Nate found the shut-off and the water stopped. WHEW! I was sweaty and wet and tired…but the good news is I think I worked off some of that pizza! He finished fixing the handle and our evening went on as normal, except we both had lower back pain. We definitely slept hard!
Breakfast this morning started off with a glass of iced coffee and nonfat milk, Tina style!
And added about 2 Tbsp of nonfat milk and 1 packet of Truvia:
‘Twas delicious! We are trying to come up with ways to save money, and I figured that feeding our coffee craving from home would be a good start! Breakfast itself was a Purple Monster with 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup oats, 1/4 cup nonfat yogurt, 1/2 cup blueberries, 3 frozen strawberries, 1 fist full of spinach, and 1 small banana. In action:
This was a great combo! Honestly it was a little on the sweet side, so next time I would either use less banana or sub ice cubes instead of the strawberries:
This morning I started to do my Whittle My Middle workout for the day, but stopped when my wrists started to hurt. I’ll probably be finishing everything later today, but I was pretty annoyed with that. Then I started to do some yoga, but just wasn’t feeling that either! This was frustrating since I took the weekend off from traditional exercise (I stayed really active cleaning and walking) and all I wanted to do was to start this Monday off with a face-rocking core workout. I’m hoping later today I’ll be completing that though!
So, back to Women’s Day…I love that I read about that this morning since I was feeling kind of run down from the lack of working out! It made me realize that I actually do a lot, and it’s OK to celebrate my being a woman!
What are you going to do to celebrate your being a woman? Give yourself some credit: what do you do that would seem overwhelming to anyone else? Today I’m going to buy myself flowers, give myself a pedicure, or just take some quiet time 🙂 I feel like I’m pretty good at managing life! I have a husband, two dogs, a house, a full-time job, and I still manage to eat pretty well, fit exercise in, cook, keep the house (fairly) clean and organized, blog on average twice a day, and always ALWAYS make time to put my husband’s needs above anything else. Whew!
Mmm… that burger looked delicious. My boyfriend got a homemade burger today made by me, I bet it was yummy too 😀
I have never had caribu coffee, I might have to give it a try sometime. I have at a granola bar by them before, long ago.
I celebrate being a woman daily by proving people wrong!!! Showing them that I am highly intelligent and fully capable myself. It kinda sucks that I have to do it at times, but it’s still fun every time you see the surprise in someones face and I think “boo-yah!!” haha.
I gave up meat too for Lent kind of unofficially. I hadn’t eaten it by accident for a couple of weeks, so I just went with it, so I can feel your pain! I love your purple smoothie – looks so good!
I would have died with that water explosion. Must be pretty funny to look back on. Hot Tub? So damn lucky. Happy Womans day to US!!
Woot, woot!
And yes, that burger looks to die for.
Happy Woman’s Day, Heather!
Happy Women’s Day 🙂
I started drooling when I saw Nate’s burger! YUM!
I hope your bath tub situation gets fixed soon… bummer!
Have a great day Heather 🙂
Huge PAT ON THE BACK for all WOMEN!!!! We do juggle alot!!!
Hmmm baked potato soup sounds yummy. I haven’t had it in a long time cause at most placed it has bacon in it.
That is crazy about the bathtub. I can picture that happening and it doesn’t sound fun! I know what you mean about rejecting food…My body started doing that about 2yrs ago..it’s so much easier to say no to certain foods now because I KNOW I will feel gross/sick/bloated/etc. after consuming. But at the same time people start to think I’m a food snob because most food at chain restaurants is full of preservatives, processed foods, low quality ingredients etc..and I have a hard time eating there. I have found even the lettuce tastes totally dried out and almost a rubber flavor..that has happened numerous times..and then I get mad that I spent money on food that tastes bad, and makes me feel bad..lol…spiraling effect!
Wow that spicy guacamole burger looks unreal! Mmmmm…. I’d be jealous too.
