- That you actually will not fade away into nothingness if you don’t eat Thanksgiving dinner.
- In addition to #1, a Thanksgiving dinner consisting of mashed potatoes and cheesecake really isn’t all that bad. Really.
- There are a LOT of baby things out there and I feel like the fact that I’m totally clueless about at least 98% of it probably means that I don’t have to have it.
- The baby likes to kick a lot now, especially when I eat, which I couldn’t be more thankful for. It’s like on Thanksgiving Day he grew 10 inches (OK, maybe not actually) and started dancing in my belly. I like this for many reasons – I can feel our baby more often now and it’s an excuse to eat more. WINNING.
- Taking care of a sick husband is not my favorite thing ever…I don’t like to see him hurting. And it’s a lot easier to deal with me throwing up than someone else. It’s training for motherhood though…right?
- Setting up Christmas decorations is kind of the best ever. Taking them down on the other hand…let’s just say I’m glad we have a while til that happens.
- Christmas tree skirts are insanely expensive.
- Baby equipment is even more insanely expensive.
- Baby bedding is the worst of all in the expense category (well, when you want something that’s not a soft pastel blue for your son it is).
- I really really REALLY need to learn how to sew. I wonder if sewing machines are expensive (something is telling me YES THEY ARE).
- Burlesque and When in Rome are not the best movies ever.
- I miss my family more than ever and would do just about anything to spend at least the holidays around them, even if it’s just talking on the phone.
- I like football more than I thought. Good thing we’re having a boy…
- Life is short. Tell the people you love that you ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM – it may be the only chance you get!
Awesome post!!
#2 – LOVE IT!!!
#3 – Way too much junk!
#4 – For me the baby kicks every night when i am going to sleep 🙂
#7 – Yes why is that?
#8 – hand me downs!!!
#10 – start easy – pillow cases, curtains. . .just try it out, and it will come. Remove a pillow case and turn it inside out and see how it was done, very simple.
#14 – YES!
Amen. Beautiful post, Heather.
Re: sewing. I have a decent sewing machine that was about $110. It is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Brother-XL-3750-Convertible-35-Stitch-Free-Arm/dp/B000VGAMU6/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1322573561&sr=8-9
If you don’t need/want the quilting features, they also have some that are less expensive. Not too shabby, price-wise!
Every Thanksgiving from here on out will be forever different. And this Thanksgiving will be a potato and cheesecake filled memory.
