Beauty Should Be Good For You

Much of my life has been relatively makeup-free, thanks in large part to sheer laziness and then a strong belief that I don’t need to wear makeup to feel beautiful. Of course the minute I was allowed to wear makeup in middle school I used my allowance and immediately started buying up things like pressed powder, concealer, mascara, eyeshadow, white eyeliner and blush. It was all new territory, and I wanted to try it all!

 

I used that stuff for years, but near the end of high school I just got too tired to do much else outside of mascara. Turns out early morning volleyball practice, a full school day, afternoon practice or games, and then a few hours of homework will do that to a gal. I’m also very thankful that I never really needed more than that to feel comfortable, so I just focused on the mascara piece and let the rest slide.

 

My freshman year of college I got my eyeliner tattooed on, and ever since I’ve truly only ever worn a full face of makeup a handful of times. It’s not because I don’t like it, but at the end of the day I don’t know how to put it on very well, and I don’t feel like it’s a must to wear every product, all the time.

Now you may be wondering what the heck a gal with this kind of attitude is doing touting makeup in a blog post. Here’s the rest of the story:
