Parsnips vs Chocolate

I WIN!!! The vote was rocked 14 to 9 by people who do make or want to make the bed every day.ย  Take that Nate ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I can here it now, “It just doesn’t make sense to make it if you’re going to get back in it!”ย  But you see, dear, more people disagree, and therefore I win ๐Ÿ™‚

Lunch today includes a little gem of a recipe I made up last weekend that I’ve been keeping from y’all since we’ve been so busy this week and didn’t have a chance to try it:ย  Slow-Cooker Veggie Pasta Sauce! I served it over some stuffed shells with a big salad for lunch:

It’s seriously sooooooo good.ย  We also had some bagel with it to wipe the sauce off the plate and make sure every drop got in our mouths ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s the recipe:

  • 4 large carrots, shredded
  • 1 large onion, shredded
  • 3 stalks celery, shredded
  • 3 zucchini, shredded
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 2 28-oz cans crushed tomatoes
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp dried basil
  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 Tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp thyme

I used my food processor to shred all of the veggies; however, you could chop them all and still have a delicious sauce.ย  I was wanting something less chunky though, so shredded worked for me!ย  Combine all ingredients in your slow cooker, and set on low for 6-7 hours, or high for 3-4 hours.ย  I froze most of mine for delicious dinners down the road!

On my lunch break I was not feeling well, and it started raining, so I decided to skip the walk and go to Marshall’s and Whole Foods instead.ย  I was planning on getting some parsnips for fries after Angela’s rave review of parsnip fries, but Whole Foods didn’t have parsnips!ย  So I did the only natural thing and bought chocolate instead ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a row of squares, which is about 1/2 of a serving, and died and went to heaven.ย  I adore Chocolove! If only they read the blog and wanted to offer a bar of every flavor for review… ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Kidding.ย  Sort of.

This weekend should be fun…we’re doing some kid portraits for some friends and hopefully just relaxing the rest of the time!ย  If it’s not TOO rainy then we might get out into the yard for some yardwork, but I’m not counting on that just yet. Thanks to all of you for participating in the Marriage Ref Friday vote!ย  In honor of that, I want to know about y’alls silly relationship arguments/disagreements:

What’s something silly that you and your spouse/boyfriend/significant other argue about that’s completely silly? Obviously we have pretty silly disagreements:ย  first the toilet paper, now the bed-making.ย  I would say that how we load the dishwasher is another funny one, but we’ll save that for another time ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Happy weekend everyone!

You rock! We were just looking for new dinner recipes for this week, and will definitely be making this sauce. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love Chocolove and Lara Bars…since both are from this part of CO, I always think I should try to get a job with one of those companies.

Stuffed shells are SO DARN GOOD. YUM! I make some spinach/ricotta ones that are to die for!
You just can’t go wrong with chocolate, oh no. I’ve had some intense cravings for chocolate lately. I’ve seen that brand before and I’ve wondered if it’s good!

And thank you for your comment about my PT! You’re going to enjoy it I think! And I know it will help you a LOT!

Ooooh…Marshall’s can be dangerous. So can TJ Maxx.
My husband and I argue about who should fill the Brita water container. I always feel like he purposes leaves just a teeny bit in there so I have to refill it!

I used to have the “why make the bed when I’m going to get back in it” arguement with my mom, but luckily my husband is on my side or maybe has just given up. We should probably grow up and make the bed!

Stupid argument we have: When I do the laundry, I do ALL the laundry. When he does it, it’s just his stuff. AHHH!

We honestly don’t really argue much at all, silly or serious topics alike. Though, he washes the dishes after dinner and doesn’t rinse them well enough before he washes them and junks up the water and it totally makes me crazy. But, I don’t argues because at least he is doing the dishes!

I know there are silly things we argue about, but I can’t think of any right now. Probably because I haven’t had my morning coffee! haha

PS You should email the chocolate company to see if they’ll send you samples. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s funny you mention loading the dishwasher because I had a fit yesterday morning when I unloaded the dishwasher, because my Husband doesn’t load it right! Such a pain.

We also argue about picking up the house at night. I can’t go to sleep unless the house is spotless, and I spend a good hour putting things back in their place, sweeping, and mopping for the 2nd time that day. I just love waking up to a clean house, my Husband thinks it’s totally unnecessary and it could be done in the morning.

Speaking of putting things back in their place that is another one. He is a leave it where it lands type of guy and for me everything has a place. I have small tiny bins all over the house, to put specific items in. They never make it there, unless I put them there.

    Sigh.

You know, I think I have the same chocolate bar that’s been sitting in the pantry for weeks now! Which is crazy because I usually eat those bad boys the minute I get home from the store ๐Ÿ˜›

    Oh, and clearly I’m a little late, but I’m TOTALLY a bed-maker!

Not closing the kitchen cabinets, I always leave them open and Peter just laughs (now) it used to drive him crazy, but after 14 years of marriage I think he has decided that it’s a habit that isn’t going to change:o)

I didn’t get to weigh in, but I LOVE having a made bed. I can’t stand it when our bed is unmade all day, so I always make it, even if it’s right before we’re going to bed! ๐Ÿ™‚

One big disagreement we had was when to put up christmas decor. I love christmas and wanted it up after thanksgiving, he flipped and didn’t. If only he’d do what I want – his life would be so much easier!!!
