Homemade Real Fruit Punch

Baby showers and punch bowls go hand-in-hand.  Much like French fries and ranch.  Or peanut butter and my mouth.

You get the idea, they’re MFEO (Made For Each Other).

So when I got the invite to join in on Maria & Josh’s virtual baby shower the first thing I volunteered to “bring” was something to drink.  Something refreshing.  Something fun.  Something that not only tasted great but actually is good for you.

I decided on fruit punch.

I know what you’re thinking:  fruit punch?  For real?  Like the red stuff with the weird Hawaiian (that we know isn’t really Hawaiian) on the canister?  Loaded with sugar and preservatives and Red 40 all up in it?

No, my friends.  I decided to take matters into my own hands.  I made fruit punch with real fruit, real fruit juice, stevia and club soda.  I made fruit punch that, if I was pregnant, I would want to drink.  Today’s the day my friends!

HOMEMADE FRUIT PUNCH

  • 4 cups frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup fresh pitted cherries
  • 2 fresh peaches
  • 32 oz. real fruit juice (pick your flavor, I loved the pineapple-coconut one!)
  • 4 liters club soda
  • stevia to taste

First things first:  if you have a juicer, use it!  If not, no big deal:  we’re making a concentrate here that will be diluted with club soda.  You can actually make the next best thing to juice in your blender or food processor!  You may have to do it in batches depending on the capacity of your blender, but that’s fine too.  First grab a big bowl and a fine colander.  Dump whatever fruit you have ready in the blender with about half of the juice.  Blend enough that there are still a few chunks but it’s mostly pureed.  Empty the blender into the colander over the bowl.  Repeat until all of the fruit is processed.  Using a wooden spoon stir the fruit mixture until all that’s left in the colander is the pulp from the fruit.  Add the remainder of the fruit juice if you haven’t already.

The proportions are 2 liters of club soda for half of the fruit concentrate, and then sweeten with stevia to taste.  Serve over ice!

Ah yes, baby showers and punch.  A match made in heaven!

Check out these other fantastic blogs for more of Maria & Josh’s baby shower!  Congratulations you guys, and I can’t wait to hear how the little man is doing once he gets here!  P.S. Check out all of the other amazing bloggers who are taking part…I can’t wait to try every.single.thing!

      hey Jamie!

you certainly can, although i don’t know exactly what amounts you would use for those. i’d say start small – you can always add, but you can’t take away!

it depends obviously on how people serve themselves/cup size/amount of juice in the fruit/etc but it made a little over 42 ounces of liquid. i would say that would serve 8 people or so!

French fries and RANCH? Surely you meant to say french fries and a chocolate shake. Fries dipped in a chocolate shake, or a Frosty, are the best.

    The punch is lovely, too!
